Wow, thanks for all of the info
I called and we are all set for the 9/27 cruise. It sounds like it will be a fun time. The offer did come with free airfare to NO and since we live in New England we can drive to the boat. If you have a chance to make it, it should be beautiful with the foliage during that time of year.
We typically go on NCL through gift ctf from MS in CT. We've had a great time and are going on one in August for the third year in a row. With NCL we've been able to get one cabin on the ctf and a second comped based on the prior year's play. I'm not sure if that is an option on Royal Carribbean.
If you go, it would be great to meet and say hi.
Thanks
Joel

Subject: [vpFREE] New Orleans Cruise offer
Harrahs N.O. treats its cruisers very well. On my next cruise in April
(Caribbean) everyone is getting Junior Suites. On the last one (West Coast of
Mexico) we all had Junior Suites and some people were even upgraded a level.
For the May Hawaii cruise they haven't said what sort of cabin, but I was told
it was a "high end event, few people invited" so hopefully it will be at
least a balcony cabin (I'm quite sure it is an outside).
For Jewel of Seas - that is the upcoming New England cruise. Brochure and
host didn't know which sort of cabin, but again I was told it was a "high end
event" so I'm sure it is an outside cabin, maybe a balcony. You could try
calling and asking Passport Travel who are arranging things.
The New England cruise has 3 pickup dates and 3 sailings. If you didn't
receive offer, try calling a host, assuming you play in N.O.
They also pay for gratuities and normally the casino onboard gives you free
drinks at the bar when they are opened -- a considerably savings. We would
stop in and get a soda or drink to take to dinner, a can of soda or two for the
next day, and so on. If you used the casino bar's drinks judiciously you
saved a lot of money.
The casino was also very nice with several free tournaments (slot and BJ).
I won $75 last trip. We also got various gifts from the casino or Harrahs,
such as pillowcase cover, t-shirts, free bottles of champagne, appetizers left
in room, etc., depending on the trip.
Harrahs/onboard casino also hosted a 1st day party (with free cocktails) to
let you know about the events.
Most of the Harrahs people are seated together on 2nd seating. We requested
1st seating and also sat with some other Harrah's people. Harrah's sent
along 2 hosts and Passport Travel had a representative onboard.
On last cruise (Mexican) they also gave us a $50 room credit per room, and I
think on one previous cruise we received a $100 room credit per room (in
addition to the paid gratutities) . Free airport transfers were also included.
Not included: airfare to the port, port excursions, incidentials, other
soda or liquor onboard not mentioned.
Royal Caribbean is not my favorite cruise line. I think food is better on
Carnival and Princess. But food is good and service is excellent.
Entertainment is generally good, with a variety of "Broadway-style" shows, comedians,
and singers. Some of the entertainers are better than others.
However, for a free cruise I'll be happy to go on Royal Caribbean.
We got the New England cruise invite, but haven't decided to go. 3 cruises
in the year are a bit much, and you have the airfare to go to N.O. to pick up
the cruise documents and the airfare to go to Boston for the N.E. cruise.
Some people may receive free airfare reimbursement to go to N.O., some not.
