Hi all. My wife and I will be going to Laughlin for the first time
as a side trip from Phoenix at the end of the month. I am familiar
with Vegas, but know almost nothing about Laughlin. We would like
to play some quarter FPDW and I would like to find some good 2 deck
blackjack. Any suggestions on where to play or stay? I'm not sure
if our action will qualify for any room comps. Also I'd appreciate
hearing any other comments or situations that we should be aware of.

There are a couple of people who really know Laughlin well here. I'm sure they'll be along eventually. Until then, you might have a look at the database and also laughlinentertainer.com. Wife and I stayed there for the first time in April. Our room at Harrah's was good with a nice view of the river. Casino is nice with a large nonsmoking area. Diamond lounge had a patio with a pleasant view of the river. I'd recommend it on that basis, but my recollection of the vp is mostly jacks. Edgewater had quite a few FPDW and the bar with a view of the river was a relaxing way to kill some time. It's in the Mandalay stable and uses the One Club card.

Lucky Lucy and I have stayed there 3 or 4 times, the past couple times
in our RV. Heck, we have been to almost every casino in the US and
our life's ambition is to visit the rest.

Laughlin is an old peoples' town, especially in the winter when all
the snowbirds leave the cold weather. You will see nothing but
grey/bald heads everywhere you go. Even some of the CWs are in their
60s. But that's OK, we are old too. Way more emphasis on
buffets than fine dining.

The casinos are strung out along one street down the Colorado river
(Nevada side of course). There is a water taxi running to most of the
casinos that is a good way to get from one place to another -- and
kinda fun too. Nice walking trails along the river too. Rooms are
cheap, Cheap, CHEAP! Before RV we never paid more than $20 (mid week)
and usually less.

VP is pretty good; check the database. Edgewater whacks the hell out
of comps for full pay machines. Harrah's has very few (if any) full
pay machines but has a very nice lounge with free food if you have a
Diamond card.

I haven't been to Phoenix in a few year's, but check the newspaper for ad's about trip's to Laughlin. When I was there, they had plenty of deal's for something like 30 bucks buys you a round-trip bus ticket, room for two night's and a buffet or two.
I went to Laughlin once, about 10 year's ago, so I cant speak to the VP or room's.
