I threw the mailer away long ago so I can't look at it again to check
the wording, but here's the impression that I got when I read it.
When the jumbo hits, everyone will get $25 in free play right on the
card reader. Anyone who is entitled to get more because of their
status level would have that extra amount credited to their account
instead of having it put immediately on the reader. So the extra
amount wouldn't show up until the next time you put the card in (but
still after the jumbo hit). Like I said, I no longer have the mailer
to confirm this, but this was the understanding that I came away with.
If this IS the case I imagine it is because it was easier to program it
this way. The readers were set up previously that whenever they got
the signal that a jumbo was hit they would immediately put $50 freeplay
on the display. So it was probably easier to use the existing code and
just change the amount to $25, instead of having the reader inquire
with the system to also check what your status level is. The system
itself would then credit the extra freeplay to the accounts of any
higher status players that had their cards actively in machines at the
time of the jumbo. Obviously, this is all speculation, but it wouldn't
surprise me if that is how it will happen. I used to be a software
engineer and can easily imagine that depending on how things were
programmed earlier, it might have been determined that it would be
easier to implement the new jumbo policy this way instead of re-coding
the card readers to determine individual free play amounts.
Of course, it does make me wonder what will happen to people playing
two machines (including two people playing on a joint account). They
will certainly get the immediate $25 on each machine, but there is a
possibility that they might only get credited the extra amount to their
account once instead of twice. I doubt this will be the case, but I've
learned to not be surprised by incompetent programming. I don't play
at stations, but I would suggest anyone that does and that are on joint
accounts check this closely after the first time the new jumbo goes off
and both of you are playing.

I checked with a host who talk a lenghtly discussion with marketing.
She (Toni Taylor) agreed that it was poorly written as well. When we
looked at the official rules, it went into limited detail about the
bonus slot play. I guess asking for clear and precise wording for
promotions is asking too much. All of the bonus slot play is based
upon when the jumbo hits and not upon the next "card in" as the
mailer implies.
