"Amen" to column content. There are still a few moral absolutes . .

Amen to what Jean Scott is saying in this article!! I'm voting with my feet by never walking into the Hard Rock. It's not the type of place that I want to encourage by supporting them with my money. I, for one, am thrilled that the FCC is cracking down on the shock-jocks and their ilk.

Rastis is voting with his feet, his ears, his eyes AND his wallet. RR
listens to the King of Media every morning and watches him on E TV every
night. In Las Vegas you can actually listen to the Howard Stern radio show
TWICE a day! He is on live at 3:00am and then replayed later. Rastis
spends most of his time at the Palms but never misses the HardRock on his
excursions to the promise land. Rastis often wonders why the FCC fines
Howard for talking about sex on the radio but lets Oprah talk about it on
the TV??? That's what Rastis calls FM. Fricking Mystery. Rastis also
wonders why people can't just listen to and watch what they enjoy and ignore
the rest. RR thinks the government should have better things to do with the
taxpayer's money than worry about Howard Stern. BTW, Rastis is of the same
ilk as Howard, not to mention the same age. Look for Howard at the HardRock
soon!

That is one good option. Another one is to go in whenever there is a positive play and beat the hell out of them. (Pardon that pun!)

LOL!! I only get to Las Vegas about once a year so I'm not going to waste my precious time on them.

I can't believe this crap. Howard Stern has been entertaining
adults, let me repeat that, adults for 20 years. His show hasn't
changed and neither has my opinion. Personally, I don't want to live
in your "G" rated world. Let's face it, Las Vegas is an adult
oriented town. That's why so many of us love it so. If problems are
had with children seeing semi-naked women, then go out to Boulder
City or over to Utah. Making kids ashamed of the human form is
pretty stupid, doncha think? I would like to close with the
following thought: Why has Mel Gibson spent so much time and effort
into the visualization of the torture and execution of Christ?? I
think humanity would be better served by remembering Christ's
message of peace and love, not the violence associated with his
death. Thanks Janet Jackson, you did a great freaking job!!

Amen to what Jean Scott is saying in this article!! I'm voting

of place that I want to encourage by supporting them with my money.

I fully agree, with both Jean and Carol, that such advertising is
quite offensive. Absent a highly-favorable "play", I'd be quite
unlikely to ever set foot in the Hard Rock.

I'm not convinced, however, that there should be any legal
prohibitions against merely offensive--as opposed to truly deceptive--
advertising. The First Amendment protects our right to operate and
participate in various discussion groups; exceptions to it should be
made only for compelling reasons.

I agree on the billboards. My wife and I dont have children, so its not a problem with us. But her sister and husband took the kid's there, and like Jean, didn't like explaining it to a 6 yr old and an 8 yr old.
But the shock jock's are a different story. You cant avoid those billboards if you drive a public street in Las Vegas or Atlantic City. You can choose not to listen to Howard Stern. Just flip the dial. If they let Rush Limbauh spew his stuff, why not Howard Stern?

billboards should be made illegal
they are mostly owned by 3 giant media monopolies anyway:
viacom/infinity outdoor
clear channel outdoor
lamar outdoor
