"Looking at the long lines to get into these late-night clubs has to
make you wonder what the casinos could be thinking in trying to
attract this crowd. Most of them are quite young and the purple
hair, tattoos, and body piercing make you wonder how any of these
people could have any money to gamble. What type of jobs could they
have in the bright light of day? This group would seem to be far
from the average Joe the casinos need to populate the floor of their
casinos."
winnie, it sounds like you were never young...my tastes aren't
tattoos and body piercing, but i have nothing against it as a form
of personal expression...what you seem to be missing is that now
every facet of the hotel/casino business is profitable...don't know
the exact percentage, but i think it is something like only 50% on
visitors to LV gamble...they have learned to get money from them in
other ways...

Kinda short sighted to label all us old folks as the only ones throwing money away in the casino. Did the author do any research on this before she hit us with her opinion? I doubt it.
First, let me say that I have never been to one of these clubs - I couldn't afford it anyway! I hear $200 plus for top shelf vodka, $10 for a bottle of beer, etc. How could they not be making money on this stuff? The clubs are packed with people willing to drop this kind of cash. Besides, once they do grow up they may very well become the high rollers of tomorrow. It makes perfect marketing sense to get them to Vegas now - grooming them, if you will.
As for he sex stuff, this is one of the few areas where I choose to differ with Jean. This is Vegas! It is what it is, and anyone moving there should be aware of that before trying to change it. Those that can't tolerate racy billboards, etc. may be better off moving back to Hoboken, or where ever.
Besides, even though all us horny old men tell our wives we only like Vegas for the buffets', we really do kinda keep an eye out for that cocktail gal - and not just because we are thirsty!
I guess this is why I'll travel 1500 miles to do "Vegas" rather than going to the local Indian rip joint. Well, that and the VP pretty much sucks here too....(-;
