The Long Road to VP Success

Good column Jean. I am taking 6 other women to Las Vegas next week and I
printed your article to give to them. I am the only advantage player among
them but some of them are interested in VP and advantage play. I am worried
that they will expect to win if they play VP. One friend asked how much
money I usually have to put in the machine before it starts paying off.
They just don't get it. I don't know if I agree with playing VP instead of
slots if you have not practiced. I think the slots at the Palms may pay out
better than a poorly played VP machine. I think I might have one of my
friends play on Frugal VP and calculate the overall EV based on her play. By
the way, we will be spending one day on the strip (probably Caesar's most of
the time), one day downtown, and then I plan on spending most of the time at
the Palms. If you see a rowdy group of middle aged women taking over a
craps table, that's probably us. Don't chastise me for playing negative
games. This trip is purely for entertainment! ; )

We saw her on Opening Night and as We Like her Music it was FANTASTIC though
my wife liked the Opening Night "Star Scene" as much. We did think that her
Costumes needed some work but the AUDIO was UNBELIEVABLE. Enjoy. We usually
Play in the General area in front of the Entrance to either the Food Court
(Greatly Improved) or Closer to Her Entrance to the Right of the Stairs up
from the Bathrooms as there are Machines at those places with the 9/6 JB in
Several Denominations. Tom & Jo

For what it's worth, the 10 play nickel schedules at the Palms have
been downgraded. They were never positive plays to begin with, but they
are all lower pay tables than about a month ago. (9/7 DB to 9/6, 9/6 DDB
to 9/5, etc.)

Scot

The survival of advantage VP depends on those who understand what a "good"
machine is but don't play properly. We need to ENCOURAGE these people!

Man, you're right there. Good blackjack games are very scarce these
days because the general public just doesn't seem to care which
version they play, or they have some vague notion that single deck is
good. As a result, single deck games that pay 6 to 5 on blackjack
have popped up everywhere.
