I was more than delighted to read your excellent column
about your wonderful late Dad, Lenny Frome.
I agree with every laudatory statement about LF. As I've
said many times on this board, he was my original (and
IMO, still the BEST) of all the vp gurus. He wrote for, and
educated 1,000's of players, such as myself, turning perpetual
losers into winners. I will always remember him fondly, and
be grateful for his groundbreaking achievements.
LF also paved the way for later gurus such as Stanford Wong,
Dan Paymar, Bob Dancer and Jean Scott, among many other
brilliant strategists. These bright folks refined strategy,
produced computer programs and enabled many now enlightened
players to hold on to their bankroll, and even occasionally
make a profit.
Many vp players who came to the game long after I started
playing (in the early 1980s) are not familiar with all that
your Dad did for our favorite game. It is fitting and proper
that you pay homage to him in your column, and thereby
enlighten newer players as to his many accomplishments.
As for you, Elliott, I think that your apple didn't fall far
from Lenny's tree. I'm sure you've forgotten, but when I was
a vpFREE newbie, mostly lurking on the board, you were extremely
kind to me. I had asked for a strategy chart for a particular
game, which I had been unable to locate. The game was of such
a nature that it could not be programmed on BDWP. You were kind
enough to photograph a chart illustrating the strategy, and email
it to me. Your thoughtfulness was much appreciated, and
demonstrates to me, that your Dad would be mighty proud of you!
