Perhaps some casinos are beginning to send out better offers to entice
players back. This week a host at Rampart called me voice for the first time,
where I'd only played one weekend, to offer $100 free play and 2 buffets. I
will go back now. I've seen some extra bonus buffet coupons showing up in the
local paper for the Orleans, as well as special coupons including some very
good match plays in special sections for Stations and Coast.
A friend just said they'd played for a short time in Gold Coast and received
an offer for free play and $100 food each day, as well as a suite, if they
come back (so they will). (They are not Vegas locals).
So perhaps the economic downturn will be of benefit to players. Meanwhile,
however, Harrahs cutbacks are definitely turning off people as they almost
double the cost of of using comp points to purchase airfare to Harrah's
properties, downgrade booze in the Diamond lounges, and won't let good players take
offers for other than their "primary" casino.
Look for bargain $7.99 meal of either popcorn shrimp or steak at Sweet
Lucy's at new Eastside Cannery which includes large salad or soup and unlimited
desert buffet. Eastside Cannery also has hot dog and beer for $1.99 in the
Deli, discounts in Casa Cocina and Carve, etc.
TGIF has now opened at the Gold Coast and their cafe seems to be closed
except for late night.
Rosemary's has a prix fixe lunch for $28. (non-strip restaurant that is very
good).
