New Alamo Charge

Coming to Vegas next Tuesday and checked on my Alamo reservation and
found that they had added a $3.00 per day Customer Facility Charge. They
said that this a new (May 1) Airport impossed tax on persons using the airport
shuttle to their pickup location. We will be out for three weeks and this adds
$63.00 to my total. I will use the shuttle twice but must pay the $3.00 per day
for the entire 21 days.

Am I getting the run around or is this just another case of tax'em til they stop
coming goverment.

Hope to see some of you folks next Wednesday for lunch at Green Valley
Ranch.

Just thinking out loud...what if you took a cab to the Alamo
facility. Might cost you
what, $10? You would then avoid the CFC.

It is a new charge that all on airport grounds companies are charging.I don't believe it is because of the shuttle, they are apparently going to be building a new facility for
housing all of the car rental companies. If I was going for 3 weeks I would change my reservation to an off terminal location and cab it there. You could probably drop your car off at the airport at the end of your trip without incurring the extra charge (you would want to verify that). I always rent for a week so this move isn't really worth it for me, I figure a cab to wherever I am staying would probably cost $21 with the tip anyhow, but for a 3 weeker I would do it..

I had thought of this however the only location that Alamo list is the one on
Bermuda RD; which they consider their terminal location. I even tried other
companies that have off terminal locations but their rates are much higher. I
think they are doing this to discourage what I am trying to do. Guess I'm
screwed.

Try some of the dollar rent a car locations and plug in some of the following discount codes: LVCVA; RNCAR; DESLV, LVCOM.
I used to use Alamo, but I find dollar to be better and cheaper (make sure you have a fastlane membership which is free, if you are ever renting from an airport location.
