I have traveled the state of Nevada extensively, and I always enjoy
playing bartops. Sometimes I find good paytables, and many times
just terrible. It seems that most bartop situations are pretty much
the same. They are usually against a wall with TV's playing some
type of sports and the view is usually of some bottles of expensive
booze that they cannot comp to the players.
However, there are a few places where the view is really great.
Laughlin has four casinos that have views of the river and the
activity going on. Also, sunsets can be gorgeous (and sunrises).
You would think the casinos at Lake Tahoe would take advantage of the
beautiful scenery of the Lake area. The only bartop that I found
with a view is at the Cal-Neva at North Shore.
The Peppermill in Reno has a couple of unique bartops situations.
The Banyon Bar has a neat waterfall with a thunder show about every
15 minutes. The fish bar is lined with tropical fish in the
aquariums.
The best bartop setup that I have found is at the Topaz Lodge at the
California/Nevada border on hwy 395. The view of the lake and the
surrounding mountains is just beautiful. During the summer months
the thunder storms roll through with lightning shows in the distance.
I am looking for some more great view/atmosphere bartops. Anyone
else have some great bartops? Of course great paytables are a
definite plus.
