Netiquette Guidelines/ How Mailing Lists Work...

I don't understand how mailing lists or message boards work but I've
noticed a delay between the time I post and the time the message is
actually posted.

Delays are routine on Yahoo Groups. They are normally
at least a few minutes and frequently an hour or more.

I "assumed" someone was screening the messages beforehand.

Messages aren't pre-screened on vpFREE unless the
member has never posted before or is being moderated
for cause. You aren't moderated and your messages are
not pre-screened.

I suspect you are correct about your "cut and paste slip-up"
conclusions: I made a mistake. However, I genuinely thought someone had
altered my message.

Even for moderated members, messages aren't altered
on vpFREE, and never would be without the poster's
authorization.

Have you ever noticed that the message summaries contain text that
cannot be found in the body of the text of the actual message? I have,
and I don't know how or why it happens.

I don't pay too much attention to the message lead-in in the
message archives, but it's supposed to be a quote from the
message. I'll be very surprised if that isn't always the case.

Please send me any example(s) privately.
