My Nevada trip starts late next week. I'll be going through and stopping at some rarely discussed VP cities - Wendover, Jackpot, Elko, Winnemucca, Carson City. Does anybody have any favorites or any info concerning these sites ? ... it would be greatly appreciated.

I can't comment on West Wendover, Jackpot, Elko, or Winnemucca; But Carson City I can.
Personally, I'd skip the Carson Nugget and GDW, and just go to Casino Fandango, which has FPDW (1c/100-coin prog.) at their Cabaret Bar, and they also have a really good seafood buffet on Saturday night.
Jackpot has 5 casinos with Cactus Pete's and sister property Horseshu being the bigger ones. We always stay at Cactus Pete's when we go. The rooms are nice. The tower rooms were remodeled in the last year or two. The only game we play and I believe the best game they have is $1 3/5/10 play 9/6 JOB. There are 4 or 5 of these machines by the sports book. There is a progessive for .25 8/5 JOB so that could be a possibility if the progressive gets up.
There is a real nice restaurant at Cactus Pete's called the Plateau Room. We have always been happy with the food and service. Across the street at the Horseshu, there is a Mexican restaurant that is very good also. Their chicken tortilla soup is excellent.
There is a decent golf course in Jackpot if you like to golf.
