NCL increased charges again

Just got this email from NCL. The new NCL CEO, like the new CET Ceo, are both very busy uping the charges. This is the second increase this year and in just 4 months!

Norwegian Cruise Line is adjusting its daily service charges, effective for all sailings that depart on or after August 1, 2015.

The new rates are:
$13.50 per person per day for any category up to a mini-suite stateroom
$15.50 per person per day for any suite category

Any guest that has made a booking by July 31, 2015 will have the option of prepaying their service charges at the current rate if done prior to the final payment due date. Guests with existing cruise reservations who have already pre-paid their service charges at the current rate will not be affected.

Yes, they are definitely nickel-and-diming their guests at every opportunity. There is now a cover charge for room service of $7.95, with the exception of a very limited breakfast - basically just coffee and a pastry. They have, to be fair, increased the amount of things they offer from room service, so if you’re too lazy to go to O’Sheeran’s late at night, then you’ll pay up to have food delivered to you.

They also charge for ice cream at O’Sheeran’s, if you don’t want to go up to the buffet.

In he casino, every 37 seconds, all night long, they’re trying to push their lottery tickets “Now over $772,000 dollars, U.S. and only a few tickets left” Ri-i-i-ight

The free dinner from Casinos at Sea (for Gold and above) now does NOT include the two cocktails each or bottle of wine. The wine prices also seem to have increased pretty substantially, with a fair Prosecco going for, I believe, $41.

Every meal in one of the specialty restaurants also has an 18% gratuity tacked on, which, to be honest, in my case at least, ends up costing the servers, since I normally tip 20% or better. NMFP!

You make a bunch of good points! The lotto is a joke, $2 per ticket and it has never paid off (at least in the years we have been sailing with NCL). I bet they have taken in many million on this. It probably goes up a penny or two for each $2 ticket.

We were invited to a free suite Alaskan cruise on Holland America in September by their casino division, it will be interesting to compare their perks to NCL’s which have declined significantly over the past 3 years.
