All of the email sent to the Yahoo! Groups are stored
in a database for later retrieval in the archive
section of the Yahoo! Groups web site. That's how you
can read them on the web page. It also stores the
messages for those of us who prefer getting the
digests, so the messages can be sent in a group.
I'm not that familiar with the PHP language and I
don't know which database Yahoo! uses for this
purpose, but it looks to me like what you're seeing is
a database error.
Each column of a database can be set to only accept
data in a certain format to help keep the data easier
to sort and cleaner. The message
"UNEXPECTED_DATA_AFTER_ADDRESS@.SYNTAX-ERROR" looks
like an input error. The database is expecting a
certain format for a specific data column and the data
being sent doesn't match, so that part is dumped. The
message "Your file saved to
gambling-Sep22-news32-05644.php" is telling you that
the rest of the data was saved despite the error.
I doubt there's anything we can do about this other
than complain to Yahoo!. They have to change the way
the data is entered into the database or change that
column in the database to accept whatever type of data
is being entered.
I hope this wasn't to "geeky" for you all. I may not
know as much about VP as some of you, but I _sure_
understand this stuff from working with it all day <g>.
