Comments about this Laughlin visit:
Harrahs Laughlin daily drawings- yes they do give out too many tickets.
Eating and sleeping even count too. The value to a low roller for winning a
daily drawing is the invite to the Big Bang Finale. This promo and any other HET
nationwide one are aimed at the low rollers who do have just two tickets in
the drum...and can come back for the Laughlin BBF.
This BBF is for the Sunday March 25th for the 33 HET casinos doing the
"Hidden Jackpots" promo. The three daily winners get the three night weekend room
package for March 23-25. There is also a $2k drawing just for the daily
winners who show-up on March 25th. You also get 50 entries into the in-house
drawing to be one of the five H-L reps in the BBF. So you have a 1 in 165 chance at
the $1 Million if you get to represent a HET casino in the BBF. Usually it
takes 100 Tier credits earned in one slot day for one entry. So 50 entries
represents $50k of VP action.
River Taxi- the water level goes up during the day because of the release of
water from the Davis Dam. This Dam is just up past the Riverside casino.
This Dam is the third in the series on the Colorado River. Glen Canyon dam in
Page, Arizona is the first forming the 200 mile long Lake Powell behind it.
The water is released and travels some 200 more miles, through the Grand Canyon
National Park to fill up behind Hoover dam. This water gets released and
backs up behind Davis Dam to form Lake Mohave, yet another recreational area.
There is another dam downstream to form Lake Havasu. It really isn't until way
down here that the water gets sucked out of the river for use in Phoenix and
southern California.
So if water is not needed downstream, the water remains behind a dam
upstream. Two years ago about this time the River Taxi serving the Laughlin casinos
shut down for over a month...Lake Havasu was plumb full from local spring
rains. The release from Davis Dam was at minimum release just to keep the turbines
from gumming up. The river was so low some casino river taxi docks were
50-100 feet from any river water.
Blackjack Conditions in Laughlin- they change. Riverside and others used to
be Double on 10/11 only. Tim & Tom at Golden Nugget brought the best rules
into play while they owned the joint. Double after Splitting was featured, even
on the $10 single deck. Pioneer mimicked their rules. Currently, that 6/5
nonsense has infested alot of casinos including Colorado Belle/Edgewater. We
will see what will happen with the new Marnell ownership.
VP- there is something playable still in all Laughlin casinos...but playing
off hours is getting to be more important.
