I've done a lot of preparation for this trip to Las Vegas (tonight)
and I'm grateful for the advice I've received on this forum. And I
must say I am tickled to be posting alongside some "famous" players!
My gambling level is somewhere between recreational and hobbyist. (I
don't remember the exact terms from Jean Scott's book, but I'm
pulling from her work.) My goal is to get casino rates or comps at
resort hotels with good facilities. I will be going with a group in
May and we will probably be staying at Caesars. Therefore, I am
staying/playing 2 nights each at both Caesars and Paris this trip. I
don't have much of a history with these hotels or Harrah's, so I'm
not sure what to expect after the switch to Total Rewards. (I did
qualify for a casino rate at Caesars and they said they would review
my play before check-out.)
I have enjoyed quite a few comps at the Venetian, so I plan on
playing there to keep my account active. I understand they have
double Grazie points January 11-13. I'm also staying/playing 2 nights
at the Stardust. They recently downgraded me from 3 nights per month.
I guess there's no point in pursuing the Stardust since it will be
gone soon.
Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for all the help. Please feel
free to post any last minute advice.

P.S. My two cents on the Monorail: It is worth a ride if you are
taking it from one end to the other. Short trips don't make sense. I
discovered the bus on my last trip and it is a very entertaining way
to get around. I would never even think of renting a car. But I live
in Manhattan and am used to getting around on trains, buses and taxis.
