My first royal this weekend!

Okay, you're all laughing, I know. 'Isn't that cute, I remember
mine...' And it wasn't a great one, a 25c 8/5 DW with two wild cards,
so yeah, that jackpot was a REAL whopper. But it came up, Las Vegas
Hilton at the bartop in the Spacequest Casino (there for the last Trek
convention before they take out the STTE area). Later at Terrible's I
got my first four-of-a-kind on the 25c 9/6 JoB machines by the
Cashier. Yeah, they're still there! The rest of the casino is 8/5 for
JoB and as low as 6/5 for other stuff.

Anyway this was my first weekend of sessions since buying, studying and
practicing on software and strategy cards (using BD's and JS's).
Bankrolled $350 (I'm a definite low-roller) and stuck to nickels and
25c when I had to. Played only at Terrible's for better games, and the
LVH because the convention was there. The $350 lasted the entire four
days, and I still came home with $50 in my pocket and a few thousand
club points at Terrible's, so I am very happy, got a lot of use, comps
and entertainment out of my meager bankroll. So this rank beginner is
very happy!

CONGRATS MARY!! They're all sweet, and as long as you're happy -
well, that's what counts. Gotta say that I'm just as impressed with
your "money management" and how much mileage you got out of $350.

Congrats. The first one is always special no matter what kind it is.

The first time my wife and I ever played after hearing about how great
VP was, but having no idea how to play, was at The Orleans. We were
playind deuces wild on some multigame machines and my wife looks at me
and says I just got a royal. About five minutes later she gets all
excited and tells me she just got another royal. I still remember the
look of astonishment and disgust on the face of an older lady a couple
of machines down from my wife who was eavesdropping. Now I am sure by
the way we were carrying on she thought we had gotten actual royals and
not the wild ones we were so excited by.

Sounds like a great trip to me:)

Congrats! Echoing earlier sentiments, there is no royal like the
first royal...that awesome mixture of shock and delight.

My first ever royal was at MSS on their old FPDW. Oddly, I hit it on
a 5-card redeal which only added to the shock! Several million hands
and several dozen royals later, I'm still waiting for a "regular"
dealt royal, lol.

Well, I only played like four 90-minute sessions at a time. We had a
Star Trek convention and the Atomic Testing Museum to go see as well!
But I was so glad to play VP somewhere else than SoCal!

I stuck mostly with the 8/5 because it made the nickels last longer,
and I was studying the strategy cards more, really trying to learn, so
I wasn't doing rapid hands or anything. But the volatility was
exciting even at beginner level JoB -- I went from a nailbiting $1.25
credit to $40.00 credit in three hands!
