My Excellent Adventure in TV land (UBT)

Also posted on the main vpFREE forum, so my apologies if this creates
double notification of new posting for you.

Ultimate Blackjack Tour TV final table -

First of all, I must thank everyone who expressed support and good-
luck wishes both in this forum and in private messages.

Second of all, I had to sign a contract before the show's taping,
attesting to the fact that I cannot divulge results until the show is
broadcast. So, I can't tell you what happened. And I can't tell you
when the show will be broadcast on CBS, either, because at this point
nobody knows for sure. We know it will happen, just don't know when.

However, I will say that I think I represented the video poker
player's community OK.

What a wild ride this has been. Earning a privilege like that simply
by fooling around playing a FREE game on playubt.com, then
the "comped" airfare, limo rides, and the room at the Universal City
Hilton. Deb and I being treated like royalty during the entire
weekend. Taping the show, with the lights flashing all over,
occasionally hearing the announcers dissecting my play, TV cameras
everywhere, on booms and handheld, sometimes right in my face to get
reactions to the exposure of crucial cards. Waiting for up to 5
horribly agonizing minutes for the card to be flipped while the crew
got the cameras set up in just the perfect positions for getting the
player's reactions. Exchanging banter with "Hollywood" Dave Stann at
the table, knowing that roughly 2 million viewers will see and hear
every word. Being able to turn slightly in my seat and see Deb
sitting there, sometimes with a camera in HER face, showing even more
tension than I was experiencing. After the taping, it was having
drinks at the hotel with world-class BJ professionals Max Rubin,
Anthony Curtis, Ken Einiger, Joe Pane.... The whole thing still seems
like a dream.

If you haven't tried playubt.com yet, you should. Granted, it's a
longshot for anyone to win the TV final table spot. But, if you win,
it will likely be one of the greatest experiences of your life. It
certainly was for me.

Brian,

Within the limitations imposed on you about the results, that was
an excellent report. You gave us a look at what these minor, TV
celebrities go through on a daily basis. Your 15 minutes of blackjack
fame may be in the future yet, when show is aired, but you have
earned a lifetime of fame from the guys at vpFree_Detroit. Win, lose
or draw, congrats on a job well done.

adventure along the way."
