I know this is going to be bad, but does anyone know offhand how much
the EV drops on Multistrike if the RF on level 1 only pays 1250
instead of 4000? Levels 2, 3, and 4 all pay 4000 for the RF. It's
that way on all the games, but 8/5 Bonus Poker would be the likely
play.
Multistrike w/shortpay RF
Very rough approximation: The difference in EV between 800RF and 250RF
in single-level 8/5BP is about 1.2%. At the first level of MS the
perfect strategy hits about 30% fewer RFs than normal play (not a
highly substantiated number), so the impact of the lower RF is likely
to translate approximately in a 0.8% drop in the overall EV, i.e. I'd
expect an EV in the vicinity of 98.3%.
Once again, that's a rough approximation, you'll need to use proper VP
analyzing solftware to get precise results.

This is a little confusing.
Level 1 should pay 1250 only if you're playing just that level with 5
coins. In that case, you're basically just playing single line vp.
You're talking 97.9%
However, if you're play 2 levels or more at full coin, then Level 1
will pay 4000 for the RF.
- H.
Now that I'm fully awake and that I think about it a bit more, I think
that my final 98.3% number is wrong.
Here's what I believe is still somewhat correct:
-In SP 8/5BP having 250RF instead of 800RF costs about 1.2% in EV.
-In MS, as a rule of thumb, you hit about 30% fewer RFs on the first
level than you would in SP.
-Therefore, the impact of having the first-level RF downgraded from
800 to 250 is likely to cost you about 70% of 1.2%, i.e. approximately
0.85%.
-I do not know the actual EV for MS BP, and thus cannot estimate the
actual EV for the variant you suggest.
-You will get a reasonable approximation of the EV in any decent VP
analysis software if you add 6 to the payoff of each hand at the first
level (the number you'll get will probably be a tiny bit too high as
the actual value of level 2 is probably slightly lower than 100%). I
wouldn't trust the variance, though (the number you'll get will
probably be too low by quite a margin).
