With respect to FPDW Multi-Strike:
1) How much do you give up by playing normal FPDW strategy on a
multi-strike game?
I haven't taken the time to explore this question for FPDW, however,
in the case of 9/6 JB the expected return from playing strictly
standard 9/6 strategy on all levels of 4-Level play is 97.80%.
You incur a substantial penalty by not pursuing a strategy that
optimizes Level advancement. I would reasonably expect that the FPDW
penalty would also be in the 1% to 2% range.
This fact is why even casinos that traditionally squeeze their plays
should consider offering full pay MS. Damn few players will approach
it with optimal strategy, ensuring a favorable casino hold, but
they'll perceive that they're being given an exceptional paytable.
2) Do these games give you the option of playing just the bottom
line for max coins?
From what I've seen and what was recently reported here, the machines
pay a shorted royal win for 1-Level play at max coin. However on
2-Level (and above) max coin play you get a full payout on the RF.
3) Is there any software that will let you practice multi-strike
strategy (my version of winpoker appears not to)?
You can, of course, practice at the LED Gaming website ... but it
won't correct your errors. With winpoker and frugal vp the best you
can do is practice your strategy for individiual levels by saving each
Level-adjusted paytable as a different game (winpoker) / machine
(fvp). The Dancer article on the game offers his advice on how best
to set up practice in WinPoker.
