Multi-Play Question

While my husband and I were enjoying a delicious dinner tonight, at
one of our favorite Italian Restaurants, he asked me if VP game
designers were sexually repressed. "Why"? I asked, realizing that
pursuing this with him was undoubtedly a mistake. "Because," he
answered there are no 'four play' or 'six play' machines!" OK. Bad
puns. But the question was serious. Why 3/5/10 play multi-line VP,
but not the other multi-line machines? Does anyone know the reasoning
behind this?
-Babe-

You can play a 50 or 100 play machine and play as many or few
  lines as you want--1,2,3,4,5,6,7. . . .27 . . . .55 . . . .67 . . . .88 etc
OR you can be like the young woman next to me at the GC on a
100 play-1 cent machine . . .yup! Playing ONE line for 1 cent at a
  time!!!!!! LOL!!!

Every now and then this comes up, and at one time a 4-play did exist
on the Odyssey machines. It came complete with gunshot sound effects.
You can buy these machines on eBay sometimes, if you really need
4-play. I only played these machines for the bonus plays.

Thank you, Jean, for your suggestion.

My "VP pyschological personality" will not ever permit me to play
less than full coin or all lines on any machine.

In any event, I'm not really seeking out multiplay 4 line or 6 line
games. It was more a matter of curiousity. Besides, if I really
feel the urge to indulge in 4 play, there is that option on BDWP.

Thanks for your reply.

Cheers,
-Babe-

Babe,

I've seen and played at a 2-Play a few years ago at the Cal
(downtown). I'm not sure if that one machine is still there.
For 4-Play, I'll say blame it on the IRS. IRS wants to see you get
the W2 forms when you are dealt 4ofakind (for $250) on a 5-Play
machine when playing $1 denom. Getting the same dealt quads on a 4-
Play does not generate the W2 form. Soooo...for the IRS, 4-Play would
mean Poor-Play.

...just a thought...

That's an interesting thought, Gilbert. You may very well be correct.
Anyway, I enjoy blaming the IRS for EVERYTHING, why not this!

Thanks, Dipy.

I never cared much for the Odyssey machines when they were available
a few years back. For the most part, the pay schedules were poor.

I have played 4 play on BDWP and was curious as to why it was not
found in the casinos.

Best regards,
-Babe-

Hi Scot,

Perhaps I am confusing a different machine with the Odyssy machine
that you are referencing. The one I remember had a "Swami/magician"
who dealt out the cards rather slowly.

I played them about 15 years ago, on the strip, at the Riviera
and Circus Circus, and in Reno at the Atlantis.

I distinctly remember 8/5JOB w/o a prog. They were MP machines, but
I don't remember the other games. In those days, I mostly played
JOB.

No Babe, people are talking about the Odyssy "Lucky Draw" Four Play
machines. Some of the better games that I recall were quarter FPDW
and Joker Wild 4700 at Fiesta Rancho and Sam's Town when they were
competing for best video poker designation at the time. Other good
paytables were $1 10/7 Double Bonus at Harrah's (times have changed
haven't they?) and $1 9/6 JoB at Desert Inn. Unfortunately the
graphics were slow so greedy pros insisted on playing two machines at
a time. The quarter 9/6 JoB at Hard Rock was the last good paytable
I recall and these machines were pulled about a year ago. Although
they had bad paytables, Golden Nugget had a few quarter Lucky Draw
machines in the South Lobby area until about a year ago.

I LOVED those old Odyssey machines. I thought they were so "cool", the way those "hands
suspended in space" dealt out the cards. But, yes, the pay tables on them were usually
quite atrocious.

Thanks so much, VVPP!

I certainly was thinking of the wrong game!

Now I feel badly that I missed those beauties. My fav games too!

Unfortunately, I had never played at FR until February, 2005.
Apparently, they were gone by then, or I overlooked them.

I have never played at Sam's Town, Hard Rock, DI or Harrah's LV.
Apparently, I missed a really great play. All because I wasn't a
member of vpFREE until 2 years ago, and therefore was not aware of
these machines or their location. )-:

For the past 10 years I've been mostly a Downtown Gal. I do get to
GN frequently, and noticed the "Lucky Draw" machines near the South
Tower. However, as you say, the paytables were less than desirable.

Thanks again for enlightening me. This is just another example of
why this board is such a valuable resource. My heartfelt thanks to
the administrator once again, for making it all possible.

Cheers,
-Babe-
