Sandwiching a trip to Tucson between LV, I stayed at MSS 2 nights on either
end. This is my core casino as they are very accommodating and I love the
full pay.
6/21: Opted not to rent a car and took the Bell Trans shuttle round trip for
$12. Great deal if you don't mind stopping at 4 or 5 other casinos on the
way. They are very prompt for the return to the airport and only had one or two
other pickups. Checked into my "normal" room high up facing Fremont St.
I headed straight to the FPDW slant tops, and hit deuces once but ended up
losing $100. Also down $12 at the craps table.
Dinner at 777: Dragon Roll and Marker Pale Ale.
6/22: Again played mainly FPDW, hitting deuces only once and losing about
$300. But up $300 today playing craps.
Lunch at 777: Cobb salad and Marker Pale Ale.
Dinner at 777: Filet mignon sandwich and MPA.
6/23: Thought it would be a good idea to get up early and play more FPDW
before my flight as I was technically even so far. NOT! Down another $300-no
deuces in less than 90 minutes.
Left down almost $300 including $89 in scratch offs and my diversionary play
on BP 3 play and Treasure Chest.
Put over 20,000 coin in.
Spent 3 nice days in Tucson losing $40 at Casino Del Sol. A couple of hands
of bad deuces and mostly $3 BJ.
6/26: Unfortunately, I checked in after 4:00 PM and the only room available
for me was a handicapped smoking room facing the highway. The worst part was
the smell. I didn't complain as I spend so little time in the room and didn't
want to take the time to have to change rooms as I was ready for action!
Should have taken the time as it turned out.
Didn't hit any deuces but ended the day only down another $100. Craps wasn't
good to me either losing $320. Boy when you're not....you're not.
Note: They changed the screens on the slant tops and they are now very clear
with minimum glare. Nice!
Dinner at 777: Happy hour specials-California roll and bucket of shrimp with
of course MPA. I also opted for what I consider my lucky Oyster shooter
(with vodka). One of my favorite things that I just can't get anywhere else-as
good.
6/27: This is my make it or break it day. Went to the buffet for
breakfast-love that omelet guy!
Couldn't get on to any slant top. There was a couple using 2 of the 3
machines and playing only 1 quarter a spin...all day long! Met someone else from
the group and we commiserated about the aching shoulders and backs from playing
uprights. Hit deuces once on the end machine, but still not ahead for the
day. Looking for a little diversion, put $50 into Treasure Chest chasing a
progressive royal. Lost $50. Also sat at the "Flex Play" slant top and lost
another $180 playing 3 play Bonus Deuces. Got 4oaK dealt 3 times; but no deuces.
Finally about 3pm got onto a slant top. Played only a short time and hit
deuces twice within 15 minutes! Only need one more set to get close to even.
Decided to take a break...
Note: I met Hal Welch (slot director)-recognizing his name from mailers, and
mentioned that I was booked these 2 nights on the Megabucks promo; but that
I was unable to stay for the pull on Wed. He graciously offered a one time
only courtesy, and allowed me to have my $30 pull a day ahead. It would be a
really great story if I hit a jackpot, but...oh well. It was a very nice
gesture and one of the reasons why I like this small casino. I really appreciate
the personal attention.
Afterwards, I ended up back at the same machine. Why not? It was good to me
so far. After about 20 minutes I was dealt KAQs and drew the 10Js for a
wonderful royal! So this one machine single handedly got me in the black on my
last day! Yippee!
Dinner at 777: Fish and chips with side dinner salad, MPA and another
celebratory Oyster shooter.
Trip thoughts:
I always have the intention of only playing FPDW; but I am a weak individual
who falls prey to the enticement of the craps table and lower paying VP when
my deuces fail to materialize. I rationalize this by using my
"entertainment" budget, and I am a firm believer in dice control-if I could only master
that!
Obviously, I am fond of the 777 Brew Pub. Although I have not explored much
more than the 3 or 4 items I usually order. However, all meals were comped
and they always taste better served that way. (Aside: when at MSS, I am usually
alone and do not care to venture out of the casino on my own).
All in all, the trip only cost me the fabulous airfare of $99 each way on
SWA-(booked on a special in March). Plus another $100 to get to/from Tucson. My
sister and her husband treated me to all meals there (he-he). Plus about $33
for the 4 shuttle trips, and of course tips. I keep my gambling bankroll
separate and treat my spending money as part of my vacation allowance. It works
for me.
Only one $5 scratch card in this whole trip-mainly 2's and not even a lot of
3's. Last month I got a $20 and two $10's. I guess things even out. The total
was $157. I am not complaining. The staff was quite prompt bringing the
cards. I normally tip a dollar to one or two that come to me regularly and feel
they are more apt to look out for my light, and then again if I hit a jackpot.
I have no problem rewarding good service.
Ended up putting in over $50,000 coin in for the total trip. I don't think I
get much in the way of comps for my table play.
Thanks for reading this, if you got this far.
Christy.
