MSS or Cal

I'm going to Las Vegas in about a month. I think I am going to stay
at MSS or The California. I would like to hear a comparison from
people who have stayed at both. Which one had the best rooms, etc?

I can't help you with the Cal, but I can tell you that the ONLY time
I stayed at MSS, they screwed up our reservation for two adjoining
rooms - and told us it was our fault for booking through their own
reservation desk. Then the two rooms were musty, mold was growing in
the showers, and the tile floors were gooey-sticky (like a movie
theater with dried sodapop). Some of the furniture was missing, and
some was piled on the beds. And we were told that those were our
only choices for rooms because they were booked, but they would fix
them up for us. They did - three or four hours later.

I've stayed at both and I like the rooms at the Cal much better,
especially the west tower (the one closest to MSS.) The A/C units are
built in, not noisy window units like in MSS. Overall, the rooms are
newer and in better shape. MSS rooms, especially the baths, are
overdue for a remodel. Also, MSS rooms face either the trains or the
freeway, both of which are noisy. The downside is that the MSS casino
is much better. Not only is the casino itself beautiful, they have
the scratch cards for 4Ks and the DW machines are fast. You can stay
at the Cal this time and play at MSS, but your future offers will be
from MSS if you do. Comps thru hosts have become much harder at MSS
if you play their good games. I'm not sure if that is true for the
Cal, which was always known for very easy comps.
