MSS musings & LVH losings

Recently stayed at the MSS for the first time on a mailed offer. We had been getting lots of offers and just tossing them, but finally decided to give them a try. Glad we did! It's getting pretty hard to find a decent place with lightning fast FPDW and reasonable comps. Really makes me appreciate what we lost at the Suncoast, and to a lesser extent the Orleans.

I was playing the deuces machines by the bar and the one I was on was agonizingly slow - so slow it sounded like it was on Qualudes when it dealt and payed. After fighting this for several hours a tech came by to work on another machine and gladly agreed to speed the machine up for me - to the top speed. I lost at a much more rapid clip after that!

I was in on a offer for 2x points, which was great until I decided to play the slant tops by the door. As previously mentioned, these machines register as nickels, which is half to point total of .25 machines. So my 2xpoints became 1x points. Oh well, the coin in will still register for marketing offers.

We got our butts chopped off and handed to us at the LVH. On a little over $8000 coin in we lost over $1100 in two days. Pick 'em is fine and AA is a real challenge, but it is hard to get lots of action in at the quarter level - especially if you are losing.

Rhonda mentioned recently that odds of getting laid after a royal went way up. Well, let me tell you that the reverse of this is also true. When you are losing, fun in the room is like shooting pool with a rope.....try if you want, but it ain't gonna happen.

Also discovered another little quirk in the LVH world of comps - unless you take a 72 hour break between "trips" they will average your entire stay whether you play or not. I checked in on a Monday and stayed for two nights on the "Fall" offer. Checked out and went to MSS for 2 nights, then did the "Fall' offer again 48 hours later. When I checked my coin in at the booth I was told I had seven days play! That really cut the coin in average, and I assume will adversely effect future offers? Live and learn...........

If not for the monorail I doubt that the wife would stay here again. She felt penned up the whole time we were there. The monorail will make it a lot easier to go to shows, etc. around town. Of course, it didn't help that the Benjamins were being sucked from her purse at an incredible rate!
