MSS dislike LVH Love

I will add my dislike of MSS to those of others. I have never stayed
in a room there. The service on the floor runs me out before I could
get enough for any comps. Waiting 10-15 minutes for a 4 OAK ticket
and up to 30 minutes after 2 AM. The second trip, I was in a drink
server "Black Hole" wherever I parked my butt. Of course, I must add
one positive: they were fast to pay my royal on the first trip and 4
ducks on the second trip AT THE CASHIER.

I still worship at the alter of AA. My casino is LVH until they
remove AA. I love the C3 comp level. I have never received bad
service, food, ... The sport book can get a little crowded, but there
is nothing good in the area since the SpaceQuest bar has PKM as well
as the other bar.

As a quarter player and Las Vegas Visitor, I find very little to complain about at either MSS or LVH. I continue to visit again and again and enjoy their positive games, free rooms even on weekends (comfortable if not fabulous), good drink service, and most meals covered by comps. I haven't had any problem with MSS's hotel service. Sure the wait for scratch cards seems a bit long sometimes, but 10-15 mins is not typical. The average is 5 minutes. The average scratch card is close to $3. That's a $36 an hour rate for sitting and doing nothing but enjoying your free drink. So much to dislike,

Would you be kind enough to describe for me what a scratch card is,
how it works, where you get them, why you get them, and what the
benefits of having them is?

You'd also mentioned LVH, and I suspect LV stands for Las Vegas. What
does the "H" stand for? Give 'em H?

That was an excellent description of the kind of Las Vegas vacation
I'd like to have regularly!

The "scratch cards" are given to players at the Main Street Station
Casino who score a 4 of Kind hand, on a non-wild card machine. As
soon as you get 4OAK, you turn on the service light on your machine,
and, of course, save the 4OAK hand. Eventually, a slot person gives
you a card to scratch off (much like a lottery ticket) so that you
can see how much money you won on the ticket. It's usually $2 or
$3, but can be much more. You collect the money from your ticket at
the casino cashier.

I have personally never had to wait for more than 5 minutes to
receive my scratch card. I can usually play an adjoining machine,
so the time is not completely wasted while I'm waiting for my card.

You'd also mentioned LVH, and I suspect LV stands for Las Vegas.

Something like that, Dave, since the new management took over, and
ruined everthing <g>. Actually, it stands for Las Vegas Hilton,
which is near, but not on the Strip. From what I've read on our
great board, it's not nearly as easy to get there as it used to be.
They now require much higher coin-in and expected theo, than in
prior times.

Minor correction required.... Scratch cards are given for all natural quads on regular or wild machines as well as natural Royals and natural Straight flushes.

A.P.

So scratch cards are a special promotion, referring to 4-of-a-king (4OAK). I suppose this promotion is available at all Station casinos, right? Then too, while you're waiting for a scratch card, you get to cool your heels. Then too, I'm sure it adds quite a bit to the +E. You're playing 5 quarters, and hit 4OAK, thus resulting in a payoff of 125 quarters, or $31.25. The extra scratch card proceeds, averaging say $3, takes this to $34.25. If 4OAK is responsible for 2% total in the expectancy, than the extra nearly 10% of 2% is 0.2%, which is the kind of added expectancy that can make or break you at VP. Thus you wait patiently for the scratch card to be delivered. Of course, if you get $6 for your scratch card, then the extra $3 scratch is appreciated! Another way of looking at it is the scratch card pays for half a breakfast buffet at Main Station, not a trivial matter...

I kind of suspects LVH meant what you'd said, but I have no idea why some folks recommend playing at the Las Vegas Hilton (which is off the beaten trail, isn't it?). Then too, Sam's Town, which is distant from downtown and is even quite a piece away from the Strip, is highly recommended. Why is it recommended?

There is so much to learn, and thanks for your help!

Dave

A quick word on the scratchers - They are also available for wild card games, but the hand may not contain any wild cards to qualify. This bonus includes natural 4 of a kinds, straight flushes, and royal flushes. Last weekend the wife and I got exactly $100 in cards on about $22,000 coin in. More than we would get from any other place with FPDW.
