No surprise here that the three good FPDW have been downgraded. Not only were some idiots playing a positive game and getting comps, but in addition they had the audacity to monopolize the machines by having them shut down. Wow! What took MSS so long to put an end to this madness? Now, let's move to another bank and shut those down also.

The problem arose becuase of a number of indivduals who tried to
monopolise the three FPDW machines. They would come in play only the
FPDW machines for many hours on end. A situation observed by myself

they have either a)quit (and gotten a real JOB, God forfend), b)
moved to games with smaller edges (10/7 DB) and higher risk of ruin,
or c)become "promo-lurkers": people who wait for good promos to
appear (and then kill them). The MSS squatters are a variation of
c). I'm generalizing here, but I'll bet they're all chainsmokers,
share a squalid apartment located within walking distance of the
casino (because the only working car in the group broke down and
they don't want to divert $500 from the VP bankroll to fix it), and
each has a substance abuse problem that effects a serious drain on
the ol' cash flow.
Think of it as the classic case of the parasite killing the host.
With comps and cashback, scratch cards, and their inherent
advantage, this was a $12/hr play, easy. There was no need to be
greedy; to suppose that MSS would tolerate them sitting there, day
after day after day, and draining off several hundred every session,
was to be extremely naive. Oh, well, three more people back on the
welfare rolls.

Not a terribly flattering portrait. Frankly I can't figure out how
anyone could live -- or would want to -- on $20K a year. Yeah sure
it's easy and I guess you get to smoke, but it must be mind-numbing.
We should really decide whether MSS' positive inventory is an easy $12 dollar an hour/several hundred a session play with exploitable comps or rigged to make it impossible for a skilled player to make money over time with a comp rate from hell. I won't know whether to return again otherwise;-) I haven't been there since spring, but I never did see the machines locked down. I have seen a couple of the deuces machines locked down at the Palms during a particularly juicy progressive. I know how annoying it can be. I internally cursed the superannuated, logo wearing twosome when they eventually returned to their machines and then I forgot about it and had a very pleasant dinner.

What makes you think you can afford to buy cigarettes on $20K per
year? I don't smoke, but I've heard that it costs about $5.00 a
pack these days.
If I was the Boss of all casinos, there would be a small segregated
room for cigarette smokers, and another even smaller room (with
steel walls) for cigar smokers. I have been driven off many a good
productive machine by one of these inconsiderate idiots, blowing
smoke in face (sometimes DELIBRATELY if they've noticed that I edged
away from them) or holding the cigarette in the SAME hand with which
they are tapping the buttons, thereby causing huge clouds of smoke
to fly in my face. And yes, I've heard all the BS about "what do you
expect....you're in a casino?" What I expect is a little common
courtesy (some smokers are extremely courteous, and I applaud them)
and trying not to innundate a non-smoker with their foul and
DANGEROUS fumes. However, cigar smokers are the absolute pits.
Sitting next to a cigar smoker is like trying to play vp in a
latrine! Oh well, that's my vent for day. Congrats to all who've
quit (I'm one of them...ditched a 3pack/day habit, 19 years ago) and
all whose mother's taught them manners.
I hope a RF is in everyone's near future.

That $20K can be largely tax free. While there's a hit as far as
future social security benefits are concerned, that $20K represents a
disposable income that would otherwise take something akin to $30K in
more "traditional" earnings. Not nestegg material, but add in comps
and I wouldn't call it an unbearable lifestyle (though hardly
desirable in my book).
Plus, the $20K likely underestimates the income of many players.

to Sam's Town where there is .4%, .5% and even .6% cash back.
I speak of Thurs, Friday and Saturday.
Surely that is BETTER than waiting for a scratch card, etc.
Key Largo has 2 full pay jokers and .75% cash back.
I do not think that any serious player would waste time at Main
Street, in view of the choices. The Riv has 10/7/80 with .25% and the
Stardust 3 play 5c 4700 jokers with .25%.
