MS: When and Where to Find a Good Bartop

The key thing here is that the people are at these to be at the bar --
not because they're looking for good VP action. So it just requires
good common sense. For those of you who like to party in Manhattan,
you'll be happy to know that right about the time you'd be hitting
your first club, is the time that these bars stop serving. Remember,
you're in Connecticut here -- the state that didn't allow retail
shops to open on Sunday 25yrs ago. That's 12:30am during the week
and 1:30am on weekends. After that, they're pretty open until
nighttime or occasional weekend happy hour.

Bow and Arrow Bar: Grabbing a spot here merely requires a TV guide.
Find out when that big basketball game is on -- now add 2.5 hrs. If
it's baseball, then 3 hrs; football, then 3.5 hrs. This place and
Michael Jordon's are the only ones that have large screen TV's and
its crowd are primarily there to watch sporting events. A single $10
bill will get one through an entire super bowl slow-playing a penny
slot game. This is the one bar to avoid on a weekend afternoon. It
does, however, have the most machines than any other bar (25); so
it's good to go to when an event is over. Those penny players have
to pay for their drinks at a bar instead of getting them for free at
a normal machine.

Wolf Den Bar: One thing nice about this place is you can find out
ahead of time if a bartop is open. Just walk in the Earth casino.
Do you here music? That answer will tell you if all the spots are
full. For this spot you need the nightly entertainment schedule
which is posted throughout the casino concourse. You can also find
it here:

Patrons are here primarily for the acts on stage which usually start
at 8:00pm on weekends, and 7:00pm during the week. If Eddie Money or
38 Special is playing, people line-up hours ahead of time to get
inside the Wolf Den. Of course, you don't have to wait in line if
your just sitting at the bar since it's not that far from the stage
anyways. You might have a shot it's just a house band playing. Look
at the schedule. If the same band is listed 25 times, then they're
probably a house band.

Hall of the Lost Tribes Bar: This bar has the worst TV's. It's also
a non-smoking section. Unfortunately, this one has the fewest
machines. However, the majority of people in this room are playing
or waiting to play the upright penny slots with the 4 way
progressives that are in the opposite corner of the room. People
tend to go to this bar later -- after they've just fallen short of
the 12+hrs of play needed on the progressive pennys to get into a
lounge. If the bar is full, full-pay quarter pick em's are only 3
feet away.

Star Bar: This is the circular bar in the Sky casino. This place is
out in the open and you won't find any stars sitting here. It's
probably the easiest one to find a spot except when there are no
sports on at the Bow and Arrow. People are here more for a fleeting
moment or break from their table game. So the waits are the
shortest, especially if you breathe heavy.
