Penny slots have terrible paybacks as a rule and on most of the machines the
max bet can be several dollars a spin. Lots of profit for the casino. I
don't believe from what I have seen that they are making much money from the
penny slots at the bar. Very little play in return for free drinks. I wish
people did play big dollars at the bar. The theos on the machines would be
very high and that would be good for VP players. The fact that the theos were
cut back recently shows that the total play on the lousy games aren't enough
to offset the better VP games. I do like slot players as they can allow
casinos to offer better VP games. The problem sometimes is that casinos look at
the profit on slots vs VP and say they need to put in more slots vs VP or they
have to trash the VP tables so they make more money on them (think Foxwoods
and an increasing number of casinos in Vegas).
