MS Trip Report

Sunday, 07/30/06
Wife and I arrived at 7:00 a.m. and left at 3:00 p.m.
Quiet when we arrived. All is well with the PE machines
Went to the slant top PE machines and there were two side by side
machines available. One machine was turned off.
Two gamblers playing two machines at a time with no heat.
All machines were filled by 9:00. Two interesting items:
1) One person had two machines locked up for a hour or so.
2) After they left for the day another gambler sat down and did the two
machines at one time. They played one coin at a time on TWO machines!

It shows what a boring game Pick 'Em is. But it also reduces your
bankroll requirement vs. putting two coins in one machine.

1) I didn't think bankroll applied to negative expectations.
2) I doubt someone playing one coin would be using good strategy.
3) I suspect more mistakes are made playing two machines but two
machine play can have a higher $/hr win rate even with mistakes. This
is true with the MS PE as long as you value the points et al at .5% CB.
4) The solution to boredom is to drink liberally. PE is a game you can
play (slowly) while drunk.

Bankroll still applies, but it's hard to evaluate on a pseudo-positive
game; at least it decreases his chance of going broke early. He could
still be using good strategy; pick 'em is probably the only game where
short-coin has the same strategy and only costs 1%, which is still
better than the games not on the database. He's probably just playing
for entertainment and mental stimulation, than for profit and avoiding
mistakes; at least he's choosing a game and machines that are better
than 6000 other machines (and many more games) on the floor. Also, he
is probably influenced by those of us who do play 2 machines, and
pick 'em is the easiest VP to give that a try w/o losing your shirt.
