I'll be honest with you. I had just about written off Morongo when they significantly devalued their cash back. Combine that with almost non-existant offers and you have a very unenticing marketing mix.
But, not so fast. Today I got the January mailer from Morongo. And this one actually creates a bit of incentive to give them some play again.
The mailer, like most others, promotes events which reward a few lucky contestants while the rest of us (maybe even hundreds) exit and wonder why we bothered. Nothing unusual (or enticing) about that.
But, further to the right in the mailer, something caught my eye.
Not only will you notice room coupon offers for the entire month (yours may be discounted or free) but a dining credit or discount as well. You don't have to book a stay in the hotel to eat.
So far, so good. But what makes up for that point devaluation a few months ago?
SLOT CREDITS! Morongo's mailer now includes automatically downloaded credits once a week for each of the four weeks. Do the math, and with the room, food and credits included you may actually come out ahead.
Morongo's improved mailer now moves them closer to Pechanga and Agua Caliente/Spa Palm Springs which had a strong marketing advantage.
That leaves one major area casino in the dust.
San Manuel, are you listening?
