As I stated earlier this week on vpFREE, the closer to L.A., the worse the casino marketing. (They must think we Angelenos don't know to drive an extra hour to San Diego).
But the attitude of "we're closest and don't have to try hard" persists. As an example, San Manuel sent me a valuable coupon earlier this week to reward me for my $1 and $5 play. It was my only September offer from them.
"Buy one Sports Grill $9.99 entree, get one FREE!". No take out.
Gee, thanks.
Meanwhile, Morongo continues to send their monthly "scratch-off" which is never better than $10 in slot credits or $5 off a meal.
So, it surprised me to get an actual LETTER from Morongo today. Could this be the offer I have long awaited?
Not exactly.
The offer is a $49 room rate any night but Saturday (or a holiday) but you do get $50 back in slot credits or table match-play.
So, it's technically "free", but actually sort of NOT free: the rate is plus tax and "fee", whatever that is.
Although I'm having a winning year, I won't tolerate seeing a credit card charge for a "sort of" comped night after a possible losing trip. It just rubs me the wrong way.
So next time, Morongo, just offer me a free room.
But, for those of you who might be interested, the offer code is FF49. Reservations: 1-888-MORONGO.
And may the Super Aces be present during your stay.
