More Royal Rumblings in AC

Hi Gang:
For those of you out there who are suffering through an extended royal
drought or are wondering why the VP gods are not smiling down on you and gracing
you with their beneficence, take heart. There is a light at the end of the
tunnel ... and it's not an oncoming train!
Hedy and I staggered through our worst year yet in 2007, wondering, at
times, if we were ever going to get another royal, but the first five months of
2008 have yielded a veritable bonanza of tax-ticket royals.
The latest two came this past Saturday at the Borgata when Hedy and I hit a
pair of $2,000 royals a mere 25 minutes apart while sitting side by side
playing 50-cent JOB on the slant-tops near the Amphora Lounge.
Mine was the first to spark a celebration when I held the J-Q-10 of clubs
and was stunned to see the K-A pop up, giving me my 2G score. After some
whooping, hollering and picture-taking, we settled in to play some more and Hedy
was soon dealt the Q-K-A-10 of hearts and 9 of hearts to give her a dealt
flush. It's been a long time since we hit a royal while drawing to four cards, but
when Hedy discarded the 9 and hit the draw button, there it was ... the
lovely jack of hearts!
When the slot attendant came over he said, "What, you guys again!" And we
replied, "Yup, and this one is just an early Mother's Day present."
The royal was our sixth W2G royal of the year to go along with five others
for $1,000 apiece and gave us a total of 14 for the year (including three for
$200 on 50-play nickels at Harrah's Laughlin). And, despite the fact that a
portion of our winnings slipped away over the next two days, we are currently
showing a four-figure profit for the year with cashback included.
So, the moral of the story, I guess, is what Skip Hughes once told us many
moons ago in Vegas when we were moaning and groaning to him about a real down
period.
"Just keep pushing the buttons," he said, "and believe in the math."
And, to that we'll add: Keep the faith.
Regards,
CoachVee (Tom V) & Hedy

PS: Hedy and I have just completed arrangements for a 10-night stay in Vegas
June 13-23 during which I will be playing in the World Series of Poker for
the first time. It's been my dream to compete in this event for a long time, so
I finally will be able to live it on this trip. We will be staying at the
Rio all 10 nights and I plan on entering four no-limit Hold 'Em bracelet
events. Can't wait!
