Wow, lots of negative things happening at the Pepp. I went last week,
and had a nice experience. I don't think I did any permanent damage to
my eyes, as they seem to be back to normal after a full day in that
neon. They are still offering the $100 in free play for a new card
sign up. They will give you up to $100 in free play for your first hour
of losses. I could not collect the $100 in free play though. My own
fault--- I won! I was surprised to see all the good plays at the bars,
but I never could find those pick'em games mentioned in the data base.
No offers for those that played in November? I guess I better not start
looking for offers in my mailbox for me very soon.
More Peppermill
I was last there Oct 31-Nov 1, joined the slot club then. My minimal
play got me a Sun-Thurs room offer for Dec. Last week I received a
coupon book, nothing special (2x$25 match play coupons other minimal),
a few days ago I got another limited room offer letter (must be the
least they actually offer), and $50 in free play.

My last stay was weekend ending Oct 3. I JUST got in today's mail a
Free Play mailer - $300 (yay!!) valid Jan 2-25 and $300 more valid
Jan 31 - Mar 9. The coupon book adds $25 to each period. I avg
$20K per day coin-in.
I've been "Platinum" for a couple years, which means I can check-in in
the VIP lounge, BUT, I have never done this - seems whenever I
arrive, there is no line at the front desk, so I check-in "out
there". About half the time, the lady mentions that I can check-in
in VIP and I always tell them that I like the quick service here at
the Front Desk. I've enjoyed smiles and fine service from all the
Peppermill employees every visit.
Just as a guess on a reason for any recent employee "'tudes": Maybe
the construction adds a bit of stress to everyone. My host e-mailed
that the phones were all messed up for a few days recently. I agree
also about the apparent (and verified by that mugging story-
horrible!) lack of security at Pepps. I mentioned that back in my
first Pepps trip report (Mar '04 here on vpFree_Reno - msg 48). I
wrote "negatives: seemed less secure [than Silver L] , lots of
dreggy people hangin around, no visible security presence on the
floor". I haven't seen it get worse myself, but not better either.
Still have to sidestep haunted-faced panhandlers at times, usually
late at night, but no threats or actions to make me fearful. But
I'll be cautious next visit,....
So, will be hittin' buttons at Pepps about 9PM Friday. Yeee haaaa.
Trip report next Tues or Wed.

$200 for the same periods here and comp nights in Grand Suite, in addition
to the mailer with several good coupons and $25 freeplay for 2 periods
between January and March. I'm pretty impressed. I've never been rewarded
so well for similar play in LV or Laughlin. I am not impressed with the
timeliness of the delivery of the offer. The big freeplay offer was
delivered today (1/12) for play that could be accessed 1/2-1/25. It would
be difficult to use the first $200 coupon due to the late notice. I don't
exactly live next door.
Also: $150 cash offer at Harrah's based on 15K coin in last October and $125
cash (and room) at SL for earning 300 points during select days based on a
few hours of quarter play in October.
Only 2 trips under my belt thus far, but I'm really beginning to like this
Reno place. I wasn't planning on returning until spring, but these offers
are sweet enough to get me to fly a great distance from one cold place to
another cold place.
Does Atlantis offer bounce to tourists? I think Reno is my new home away
from home.

Hey Chandler, welcome to our secret public club - vp in Reno.
Like the rain here in Seattle that keeps folks away, don't tell EVERYBODY that you
found heaven - it might get too crowded.
Regarding the timing of the offer, they're not sloppy at all. I think you are just now
joining the FreePlay cycle. The previous FreePlay offer expired Jan 12. (that one was
only $200 for me) I believe that they have overlapping promos many times during
the year, like this one, and you don't have to have gotten the announcement in the
mail for it to be valid. If I'd been there and played anytime Jan 1-12, I'd have both
offers there in my freePlay balance. I HAD to travel tomorrow Jan 13 on this trip, even
without an active freeplay promo in hand with the Jan 12 expiration. I somehow just
KNEW this next promo would show up, the last couple years neither SL nor Pepps has
allowed my calendar to go promo-less.
Look ahead on the calendars, most all shows and fights include free room (SL &
Pepps) and some sort of weekend freePlay promo at Pepps.

Dear Chandler,
Actually Reno is not really that cold. My husband is there this week for his class at UNR and says that all the people from the frigid northland are marveling about how warm and nice the weather is. They are going hiking this weekend to enjoy the weather. He says it is in the 50's and on a sunny day in Reno this is nice enough to play golf if the winds are not blowing hard. Because it is high and dry the sun really feels very warm. Of course last Jan. they had a hundred year snow fall and it was a little different. But I think this year is more the norm. So don't worry too much about the cold. When I go in January, I don't even take a big coat.

I also recd 2 x $75 from the Pepp for Feb and March, based on ~$10K
coinin during November.
Nothing from Harrahs from the $5K CI I gave them and I'm still
waiting on my SLegacy quarterly cash offer. Has anyone else recd
their SL cash offer for 1Q 06?
Hi Chandler.
I rec'd the same $200 FP offer which is good from Jan. 2nd to Feb. 2nd
and from Feb. 7th to Mar. 9th. (plus, of course, the small mailer with
the $25.00 FP and $50.00 food etc.)
EH & I are going to bein Reno, at SL, for their Super Bowl Party
invitation from Feb. 3rd to Feb. 6th, right in between the PEPP offer!
SOB!!
This SB party invite was just rec'd, and since EH wanted to attend,
(aaccepted the invitation, and requested that I join him) I changed my
LV plane ticket, from going to Chicago on Sat. 2/4., to meeting him in
Reno for weekend. A tough job, but someone has to do it!
All of us Reno Junkies agree with you that Reno is topnotch!

Yes, I have to agree with everyone here that the value in Reno for the vp
player is exceptional and I thank everyone for their help. I'm still in
consultation with the wife about the specifics of our next visit. Let's
hope that you are watching the Bears at that Super Bowl party, Babe! I sure
as hell wish I had placed a futures bet on them when I had the chance.

I would expect something for that 5K at Harrah's. Their mailer for our play
in October was for use in Jan/Feb. Maybe you'll get one for March/April?
The Harrah's facility is very average (IMO) and the gambling opportunities
are not very impressive, but the level of bounce we received has my
attention.

Hi Chandler,
Well, I guess we all know now that's another "wait til next year" for
all Chicago sport's fans. We'll try to enjoy the SB party anyway!
The SL is doing a nice weekend offer for the SB. In addition to
comped room, there is a Friday night cocktail party (with some
NFL "stars) a Saturday tailgate BBQ with Bloody Mary's etc., George
Carlin in concert Saturday night, and the SB and Sunday Brunch on
Sunday. I'm sure that we'll have fun.
I hope that you and Nancy are doing well and seeing plenty of 2006
Royals.
