More Orleans Downgrades

It appears that all the NSUD and 10/7 DB have been
downgraded at the Orleans. Did I check every machine?
No, but I checked enough to safely say that they've
done a thorough job.

Also downgraded is the 25c Bonus Deuces progressive
near the buffet. It's now the 98.8% 13-4-3 version.

And the $5 9/7 DB that used to be a progressive has
been removed. It didn't make the trip to the new
high-limit area between the Business Center and Canal
Street Restaurant, nor is it in its old location.

Everything in the Orleans database was checked by
vpFae and me last evening. The updates mentioned above
and a few others have been made.

In honor of the Survivor TV series, I also did my walk of
remembrance/frustration thru the Orleans yesterday. Was thinking of
carrying a symbolic torch but decided against it. I guess I can put my list
of notes that I took in the recycle bag now, as you covered it all quite
nicely, but I will add that, possibly due to the IF (inebriation factor),
they left 8/5 bonus in the bartops across from the slot club, I forget the
name of the bar. We took our remaining $900 in cash back and before leaving
did our flight attendant exit line with the few coctailers that we have come
to know, B-Bye now, B-Bye now. On second thought, I should have brought the
torch. Would probably lost the nerve to burn the joint down but walking
around the casino with it would not appear to be that abnormal in Vegas.
Over the years I have seen a lot stranger things in a casino.

The vp machines were NOT the only ones downgraded. :<
Customer Service at the Registration/Front Desk was also downgraded.

For the last 10-15 years, I've been getting free rooms at The Orleans
without any problem.
Last weekend was a different story. For the first time, I used their
offered coupons I received in the mail. Jot down the Confirmation
number, cut out the $100 Food coupon and $100 machine Credit, and
tossed out the remainder of the invitation.
Attempted to check-in last Saturday, new employees at Registration
said "Sorry, we cannot check you in unless you have the other part of
the invitation." Part of the coupons I cut out shows my name and
address and the Confirmation # is written as well. I told them that
I drove about 5 hours to get there and has no time to drive another 5
hours just to get the remainder of the invitation. I asked for the
supervisor who of course was on break. So, I decided to go see some
old friends from the Keno dept. and they issue a note to Registration
to give me a room. After checking in, I took my brother to eat at
Canan Street Grill and handed them the $100 Food Credit and the room
key. The cashier called the Registration and they said "No. That
coupon is not acceptable so I ended up paying cash. Went back to
Registration and talk to the Supervisor. What a waste of time!
All she can tell me is that I can use that $100 Food Credit some
other time. --- I just tossed the coupon to her and told her "You can
have it for yourself.". How inconsiderate these new personnel at the
Registration Desk.
Talk about downgrades...

Most casinos these days have gone this route, but there should be a
clearly visible warning next to the coupon saying "void if detached"
(from offer). The warning should not be on the back of the coupon or
in the fine print where it could easily be missed.

I always take my entire offer letter for a stay etc. just in case
problems arise.

The above is just plain stupid. Orleans was making a fortune on this bank that reset at 99.4. Now they switch to a game with higher volatility and a more complex strategy. I'm hoping this backfires in their face, as I'm certain a half empty bank at 98.8 is a loss leader compared to full 99.4 bank anyday !

If you had brought the offer letter with you, they would have
honored the $100 food credit.

I visit Vegas from the L.A. area often (at least once a month).

I have stayed and played at Orleans many times over the years,
using the same offers (free room, food credit, etc.) that you
mention. They have ALWAYS insisted that I present the mailer
when checking into the hotel. And, they ALWAYS make sure
that I know this is their policy when I make the reservations.
This was also my experience at South Coast, before it became
South Point.

Orleans is not the only hotel to require mailers when checking in.
My experience has been that Primm hotels and Sam's Town also
require the offers be presented upon check-in.

This is not unusual at all.

Yes, and I admitted to them that it was the first time I tried using
the offer mailed to me and that half of the offer (the 2 coupons
showing my name and address) is all I brought with me since I was
not aware that the other part was needed. I stayed there 3 weeks
ago and almost every month before that for the last 10-15 years for
free including free food.

If they used "Common Sense" that night, they could have checked my
records right away to see if I was one of their most loyal customers.
The only thing they had in mind was that top part of the invitation.
Too bad I checked in around 6pm when the other people who works in
the earlier shift and knows me have gone home already.

For patronizing a casino for those many years, they could at least
offered something like "Well, let me check with your casino host to
see if they'll accomodate this offer or at least give you another
offer.".

Another lesson learned.

Actually, Gilbert, you make some good points. I think that I would be
just as upset if this had happened to me. It's very disappointing to
give a casino so much business and then be slapped in the face and
told that you don't matter.

You know, that's the problem with not a whole lot of player hosts in
a hotel. I thought the Dust closed and some of the Stardust hosts are
now working out of Orleans. Might be worth checking to see if you can
get a host. I have found that getting a host if possible is always
the best way to go. Host might be able to help with forgotten coupon.
Of course there's a number of other ways a host can help. I've need
host help more than once at check in. Once in AC I lost my wallet
with all my ID. Had a couple W2Gs in it. So I called my host. She
called department that issued me a copy of W2s lost. I got them
before I left the property for home. Then she mentioned; "If you have
any ID problems with winning a signer or any other ID problems, have
them call me and I will ID you." Sure enough, I hit a signer later
and I directed them to call host. Host talked to them and verified
me on the phone and I was on my way with my $$.

By the way, the wallet I lost was a Daytimer jotter size book. I keep
daily notes in it and my drivers license and credit cards. I also had
$500.00 backup money tucked inside it. I keep regular $$ in front
pocket. Anyway, by time I got home 3 days after losing book, I had a
message to call Caesars security. Caesars had the book, license and
credit cards. The $500.00 was gone. They found it near cage on floor.
Funny thing; I lost book up the boards a couple casinos.

Jeep,

Even if I have a slot host at The Orleans and if s/he happened to had
gone home last Saturday night, it probably would not help resolve the
situation being -> the Registration clerk (jerk) and her supervisor
had their one-track-mind zeroed in on that top portion of the mailed
offer. A couple of times that night, I heard from the employees "We
have new owners, you know.".

Come to think of it, maybe Boyds management do instruct their
employees to be strict in collecting these "offer letter" at check-in
to make sure they'll have plenty of those stuffs SAVED in a special
place in the casino's Vault. This way if there happens to be a
hostile takeover/buy-out in the future and Boyds Gaming says "To get
Orleans from us, you have to pay us $5 billion and cover our $3
billion worth in debt." IF an audit takes place, all they have to do
is open up that vault FULL of "offer letters" sent to customers. :>
Harrahs, if you're listening.....this is just a joke!
