Went to the Siena last weekend to see if the free play promo was still going and it is. I had a $300 freeplay coupon from ATL and they informed me that they would give $100 max freeplay, but you have to play through however much freeplay you want to use, cash out, then the freeplay trigger will release. I randomly picked a machine near the end of the pit, by the craps tables, and quickly scanned the pay tables. I was able to find 8/5 BP at the $1 level. I think it was 7/5 at .25, but I could be wrong. Ran 20 hands thru the machine and the freeplay triggered as promised.
After decades of going to Reno, this was the first time I stepped into what I had always thought was an old dump. I could not have been more wrong. It is a small casino and hotel, but very nice, modern and "artsy" inside. The bathrooms are nicely tiled with granite and high end hardware. The bar outside of the Davinci steakhouse was very cool and overlooks the Truckee river. In fact, you can sit outside directly on the bluff over the river (straight down). They have what I think is a "sports bar" along the West wall in the center of the casino that has a lot of TVs and a bunch of very comfy couches. Relaxation and comfort in a cool and upscale atmosphere seems to be the theme.
If anyone has stayed there, I would like to hear about their rooms and the spa.
For fans of displaced employees of the JA Nugget, there are several notable employees now at the Siena:
- Bob Spencer, longtime host at JAN
- Windee from Casino Marketing at JAN
- Kim D, pit supervisor at JAN
- I was told that there are several dealers, but I didn't recognize any in the half hour or so that I was there.
- Karl, the awesome bartender that formerly worked at the Orozko Bar at the Nugget is now mixing drinks at the Bar outside of Davinci's. He makes the BEST drinks, particularly shaken drinks.
I was very pleasantly surprised and will return to give this joint a second look.

PS- Oh yeah, I was able to convert the $100 freeplay into $155 cash!! woo hoo!!
