According to an article in today's LVRJ, South Coast
will have to be renamed because Boyd Gaming will keep
the rights to the Coast name. Also Michael Gaughan
will be prohibited from selling South Coast for five
years.

South Coast will have the following promotions in
August according to the mailer received today:

Mondays - Earn 2000 points and receive an additional
1000 points once per day.

Tuesdays - 1/2 price when paying with points at any
South Coast restaurant.

Wednesdays - Double Points

Thursdays - Buy one meal with points at the Garden
Buffet and get the 2nd meal free.

Fridays - A random slot player will win $100 in
Instant Credits every 30 minutes. Club members to the
right and left of the winner will get $50 in Instant
Credits. One cash prize may be won per day.

An interesting quote from the article:

"Still, Wall Street was not entirely negative on the sale.
Goldman Sachs analyst Steve Kent said in an investor advisory that
getting rid of South Coast was probably the "saving grace" for Boyd
Gaming in an otherwise gloomy second quarter."

Wow! Just to think I knew Steve when he was only a smartass and a VP
player...The boy has done well for himself.

Methinks they're not done yet. I'm betting some sort of deal will be
done between Boyd and HET over swapping the Rio and Barbaric Coast
properties, with cash and perhaps other casinos to be named later.
While some analysts like Boyd's side of the deal, it's a pick'em
AFAIAC. The BC property is worth substantially more with HET owning
and thus controlling 3 of the Four Corners of Flamingo/LV Blvd than
with Boyd operating it.
