Recently we discovered a few new shuttle tips. The Palms shuttle only goes
every 2 hours, but does go to the Fashion Show Mall - a quick walk to the
Wynn. It also stops at Caesars Forum Shops.
There is a shuttle from Green Valley Ranch to Mandalay Bay (infrequent
schedule).
A shuttle runs from Palace Station to Fashion Show Mall (may require showing
a room key or a Station Boarding Pass). They also have an airport to Palace
Station shuttle (presumably you need to be staying at Palace Station - I
don't know if showing a Boarding Pass would work or not).
Wynn has a convenient shuttle to Paradise in front of the Convention Center.
This also can be used to get to the Monorail. The Las Vegas Hilton is also
within walking distance of the shuttle drop off.

The Vegas public bus system, CAT will institute rate changes on Dec. 1. The
transfer system is totally gone. Instead you can buy a $2.50 daily bus pass
which gives you unlimited transfers on any non-strip (Las Vegas Blvd.
route). The Las Vegas 301/302 buses are now double-decker Duece buses with better
schedules. If you buy the $2.50 pass you pay .50 more for a trip on the Las
Vegas Blvd. Duece bus if you want to transfer.
Reduced fare rate will be $1.25 for the daily bus pass.
For a round trip on a non-strip route the new $2.50 fare is essentially the
same as paying the former 2 $1.25 fares. But now you can no longer transfer
along the Duece route for free.
Apparently tokens will still be accepted - but maybe cannot be used to pay
for the Daily bus pass. So apparently 2 tokens will still get you a 1-way
trip on a non-strip route (but apparently with no transfers).
Also the monthly passes are increasing in price. Now a 30 day pass will
cost $40 instead of $30. The reduced rate pass (for instance for people over
62) goes from $15 to $20 for 30 days.
The $5 bargain pass for 24 hours of unlimited travel anywhere in the system
remains intact. This is a very good deal for tourists. Also remember it is
for 24 hours, not just 1 day, so if you use it in the afternoon of day 1 for
several trips, on day 2 in the morning you continue to have free travel.
If you have unused 30-day passes or tokens, they continue to be useable. We
stocked up and bought 5 of them today before the fare increase.
The token situation seemed a little unclear to me.
I'm sure there will be a lot of confusion at first by locals used to using
free transfers. This change was NOT well publicized.
Also some schedules will change Dec. 1 so probably a new CAT complete
schedule should be available soon.
The good news for us was that Rt. 202 (Flamingo Ave.) has improved service
with more buses . Now the wait is usually only 15 minutes instead of 20.
Also the Duece service is also faster now than the old 301 service on the strip.
Unfortunately the bad news about the fare increases and Coast Shuttles
requiring room keys for boarding kind of counters this. Since we don't own a car
(we never have and always have used public transport), we use the CAT system
a lot.
