We were in Caesars Palace Vegas today and I took my niece to look at the
seahorse tank in the beautiful seahorse lounge (Note Harrahs personnel lurker -
my niece is no teen - she is 35!) - most of the seahorses apparently died off
recently and the few left looked sick. The tank looked sad and poorly kept
up.
Is this another Harrah's cutback - let the seahorses die?
Meanwhile I saw the new rewards catalog with increased costs for buying a
airline ticket to a Harrahs property. Previously 50,000 points would have
gotten me from Philadelphia to Vegas, but now it is 20,000 points for $100 air -
since airfares have gone up, it probably would now take me 80,000 or more
points for this trip.
Forget it Harrahs - I won't be visiting some of your properties elsewhere
now.
In fact, I'm cutting way back on my gambling at your properties here in
Vegas. First you cut out any decent video poker (like 9/6 jacks) which I play in
addition to reel slots, then the 7* club was killed, then the Diamond club
snacks are cut to some dips and soggy breads. Now I'm told by my Paris host I
can't call and come in on offers there, I can only get offers at my primary
property (Caesars) - so instead of playing at 2 or 3 or 4 Harrahs properties
in Vegas, basically I'm only welcome at one.
Add in the horrible decline in the stock market (which provided my gambling
money) and ... Harrah's, if I am gambling, I'll be going elsewhere.
I'm sure other folks feel as I do, and in fact I've spoken to some with the
same views.
Since Harrahs personnel lurk on these boards - you can pass this back to
your higher ups - our gambling money is limited and we are going elsewhere (like
LV Hilton, Venetian, Wynn, or "locals" casinos in Vegas).
