More bad news about CC Reno

Last month I reported about the CC slant tops and uprights being downgraded on BP from 8/5 to 6/5. The one exception, there's a bank of 4-5 slant tops along the wall behind the cashier cage that pay 7/5 on BP. Yesterday the bartops were down all day. I was told they were going to "take some games off". When they finished (about 3:15 p.m.) I discovered that only ONE GAME on the playlist qualifies for the progressive, double double bonus poker. All the other games will just pay the standard jackpot for a royal. But that's not all. Now the bartops in all the bars, along with the slant tops throughout the casino (except for the ones I mentioned above) only pay 6/5 on BP with a 25¢ bet. I walked by the bars later on last evening and it was like a ghost town.

Thanks for the report. If you don't mind saying, what kind of coin in/offers have you be recieving from them?

Why joints see the need to further downgrade games that barely return 99% with the never achieved "computer perfect play" is beyond me.

Their casino managers are morons.

Gotta agree with you, Tim, although that 10% may be on the high side. I've never seen anyone besides me looking at paytables on the vp machines. I ALWAYS check, even on machines I've played often, in case they've been changed. Casinos could have 6/5 JOB and there would still be the same players (not us, of course!).

Don, for this particular trip I received an email for two free nights. I am staying three nights and this morning the casino host comped me for the third night based on my play. I REALLY enjoyed playing the bartop progressives for 25¢ but since that's no longer in the picture for BP I've been playing 50¢ 8/5 BP for the past three days on slant tops. Wednesday was horrible, Thursday was excellent and today I held my own. I'm sure my next offer will probably be for 3-4 nights but, because of the downgrade, I doubt I will stay at CC.

I have many nostalgic (family) memories of CC. It will hurt me not to go back there but, as others have spoken, the downgrade really sucks.

I assume you checked the flat top .25 prog on the casino floor (see vpfree2 database), It was still intact late last month with 9/6 and 8/5 bonus. Is the 9/6 removed from that bank too?

Yup, I always play the same bank of 10/6 DDB, and I ALWAYS check to make sure they're STILL 10/6 before I play EVERY TIME...you never know...

I'll bet they finally found a buyer for CC Reno. So what they are doing it tightening up all the machines like crazy. The thing is they don't care about the long term prospects of the property just the short term profits. Often the purchase prices is determined as a multiple of current profits. If they are setting the VP to 95% hold then they are doing much worse to the slot machines. And yes customers can tell when they aren't getting the overall amount of play that they should be getting. Those customers simply don't return. The new owners will need to rebrand the place for them to be willing to possibly try it again.

Hey Guys...
I'm not sure why anybody is still stuck on CC. Its well known that the place keeps going downhill for the last 2 years. You've got the Silver Legacy next door with an impressive selection of full pay machines, and you have places like the El Do and Sands, that have improved their comps to lure gamblers. JA Nugget is one place where I cant seem to lose at, yet they keep sending me incredible generous mail offers. I really cant believe the vpfree2 report on the Cal - Neva, that place use to have 1 full pay machine at every corner ( and it has quite a few corners ). It may take you a day or two, but I'd rescout the place - it used to be tops.
best...Tom

I can't speak for the others, Tom, but in my case with CC it's more of a nostalgia thing. I have many fond memories with family members that go back to the 80's when I first started gambling. As for CalNeva, somebody give me a page when they've done some extensive remodeling and I'll give it a try. I do appreciate knowing about the Nugget. I had no idea they were so liberal.

I can only speak for myself in saying that I like to play at CC because, quite simply, I have an overall winning record there and I can't say the same about JAN, a place where I simply cannot win. Believe me, every so often I go back and try but I'm not about to keep throwing money down the drain to go against the vp gods. Add to that is the fact I like the bbq & sushi place there where I can pay with comps, I get the occasional light meal at the coffee shop, and the CC steakhouse is excellent. While I do like the restaurants at JAN, I just don't have the comps to pay for my meals there, because my play is so limited - losing will do that.

Was just at CC this a.m. and checked the flat top progressive at the bottom of the escalator leading to the carnival arcade. No JOB or BP on it now. There's 7/5 DDB and I believe either a JW or DW game at the .25 level only. What a waste.
I can also confirm that all of the .25 BP has been changed to 6/5. My advice to BP players is to play the Eldorado .25 ACE$ BP - they have some at 8/5 but check paytables because they have some at 7/5.

Unless they've changed it in the past week, there's still a bank of four slant tops behind the cashier's cage (along the back wall) that still has 7/5 BP for 25¢.

If you enjoy BP at the Circus Circus, and your budget can stand it, I would suggest trying the $1 Aces and Eights progressive next to the MegaMillions machines. There is a group of four slanttops in that area where all the coin-out machines are (non-TITO). It's an 8/5 game where quad aces and 8's pay a prgressive, usually less than $200, four 7's pay $250, a RF is a progressive ($4600 last week) and a reversable/sequential RF progressive (almost $60,000 last week). I always stop by on my way out of town and 80% of the time I leave there winning something. Last week I held two cards and ended up with a SF for $250 and then quad 8's. In the past, I've been dealt four sevens.

The game really is a hoot with the clunk clunk clunk of hot silver tokens dropping into the tray...I like to cash some out and move around the four machines, dropping in five tokens at a time. If you cash out more than $200, you get a handpay, which is good considering how heavy 200 tokens are! Had 2 handpays of $300 each last week. Really a fun game with usually no one playing it...so it ain't all bad. I also added about $20 in comps in an hour of play, which I will use on my next trip at their steakhouse.

Thanks for the info...
From the looks of it, it's about like BP, except instead of small cards, it's 7's and instead of JUST aces, it's also 8's..at 99.79% with a variance of 21, doesn't sound bad at all!
Just wished CC had some better food options...
