I'll tell you something else I'm enjoying...this bulletin board. I'm
enjoying seeing the increased chatter here, whether it be about
VP, BJ, food or anything. I find Laughlin very relaxing and enjoy
traveling there and reading about it when I'm not there.

Well we can talk about the River Palms. I don't have a clue what they are
really doing. Checking my notes my best mailer was in October 2004 (3x 2
nights, 3x $50 bounces). Currently I get crummy (2 for 1 rooms, 2 x $5 promo chips)
mailers.

They were doing a silly Tues/Thurs promo slot tourney where no one knew if
high score/low score/machine choice would win the money. It seemed like the fix
was in.

They would close the upstairs change booth leaving the main cage as the only
redemption site. A weird move for a joint that still does coins. I would
actually walk down to GN with my bucket.

I still can't understand why the buffet is the only late night choice for
food. The coffee shop is closed from 10p-6a. That buffet is just nasty by early
morning.

Berri Lee has been there for four years doing his stale magic act. They got
some state of the art TVs and a great projection set-up in the Bermuda Club,
but only do local cable for games.

The positive side is I can get my FPDW fix.

So who should buy the Flamingo? I want Boyd.

I can relate to that change booth problem at the RP. It happened
to me once too. I didn't think about taking the coins over to the
GN, but instead waited and waited and waited at the cashier
cage.

While we're griping, I have a gripe about waiting in line at the
cashier cage at CB too. Unless they've changed since April they
don't have any ticket redemption kiosks, and the coin machine
close to the cashier's cage always seems to be out of order.

As for the late night buffet, I don't know why RP is the only choice
for food. I've wondered how profitable it is, or how profitable it
would be if other casinos joined in. I've always been there at
10:00 p.m. They seem to do well at that hour. I've never
experienced the nastiness of the buffet in early morning. I'm
glad, though, that at least they HAVE a late night buffet, because
sometimes it can make for a great diversion. I also travel to
Reno 2-3 times a year and what surprises me is not one casino
in Reno (the size that Reno is) has a late night buffet.

Sure...Boyd would get my vote too for the FL. Why not?
While (for whatever reason) I've never gambled much there, they
always seem to be busy.

I dunno...I'm not a Harrah's fan but it seems to me that Harrah's
is missing the boat by not capitalizing with FL. It seems like the
two locations could work hand in hand promoting each other.
