Somehow, I doubt that this person or group has anything to do with
the video-poker-playing, Nevada-and-California residents that make
up Team Nerd, especially since they don't call themselves that (I
made up the moniker), whereas the writer of this strange missive
seems to accept the name for his group, whatever it is and whatever
it does.
What did you do, do a Google search on "team Nerd" or something?

I cannot tell you exactly how I know, but I am 100% certain that the
URL above links to an article that is specifically about the same
"Team Nerd" about which this last has been chatting lately.
It should come as no surprise that the real name by which "Team Nerd"
is known to its members will probably never be publicly disclosed.
However, it is known to me that the members are quite amused at this
