money management question

hi everybody… new member here with a question

i usually play bonus poker deluxe. when i hit four-of-a-kind (400 coins), i usually hit the cash out button, put the ticket in my pocket, and keep on playing with the money i brought. when i hit a royal flush, i leave with the money even if i just arrived

i insert a $20 (in quarter denomination) or a $100 (in dollar denomination) and let it churn until it’s gone - unless i hit a royal or four-of-a-kind

is this a good money management strategy??? is there a simpler, better way to do it???

thanks in advance

I think all of that is a waste of time. I suggest having a more long
term view that ignores minute by minute fluctuations. Try to
determine what way of managing your money will maximize your winnings
over the next 20 years. I usually put in enough money once at the
beginning of each session that will likely last me as long as I intend
to play and obey that line in "The Gambler" that says not to count
your money until you're done.

Have seen players put ten Benjis into a $1 single line advantage vp plays and

start banging away. Neither action is low profile, imo…

Been told t’is evidence of tweaking and (some) suits know are a profit center in several ways.

OTOH, we’re still trying to keep a low profile,…

Yes, it's very high profile, which bothers me, but then, putting money
in more than once is also high profile, since it allows potential
thieves more chances to see where I keep my money. I often get asked
what big jackpot I hit when I've lost for the session. The opposite
extreme kind of appeals to me. Never put more than $20 in and cash
out if I get over, say, $80 or $100 and quickly hide the cashout
ticket. The extra time that would take deters me. I think that
plenty_zloty's system is low profile. It looks very unprofessional,
as I believe is the case about using a strategy card, but maybe that's
why it might maximize one's winnings over 20 years.

FWIW, I am an active supporter of short-term ROR calculators. Determining what I want to play and how long I wish to play, I compute the bankroll required for a 0.1% short-term ROR. I always end a session with money left over in the machine (sometimes not very much…LOL) but I always leave with something.

$1 FPDB Aquarius (progressive @~$4500) last weekend of March several player models:

Young novitiate playing with a huge strategy card. Maybe 200 hands/hour. Lost a lot of money.

A gambler with evidence of tweaking. Lost a lot of money.

model. Lost a lot of money.

My wife and I taking turns with bonus rounds for money management. Lost a lot of money.

But somebody did hit it @~$4700 right before we returned to Vegas after 4 nights at Aquarius. Don’t know who and wasn’t going to ask. The AQ was very busy but not so much early morning. Making a lot of money.

March Madness and Willie Nelson was at Edgewater.

wow thanks all for the incredible feedback… my friends who play still think they’re getting “entertainment value” or some such diddly squat. there’s just no way to get through to them it’s serious business

my personal experience is that i lose about 30% every turnover while i’m waiting to hit… that’s a lot of money. it’s even worse when i’m in California and playing at 8/5 progressives. seriously, video poker there used to give up four four-of-a-kinds a night, and now i’m lucky to hit even one. i’m thinking that indian reservations are like cruise ships. the same technology that allows the casino to deny a royal if the bank already gave up too much, is used to deny ordinary low-value wins at indian reservations. ouch i got scalped!!!

We’ve been through this “argument” many times., i.e., entertainment vs. business, They are both valid reasons for doing one’s “vp thing”. To each his own. Have fun your own way! (I guess I am wasting time and energy even saying this…again!)
