I thought there was some sort of law about taking money from a machine

I also understood that if credit on an abandoned machine are pointed out to
the house they will cash them out and hold them for a short period to see if
they are claimed by the owner. If not claimed they revert to the house. I had an
experience at the Horseshoe in LV where an employee pointed out credits on a
machine next to one I played earlier and asked if they were mine. I had spoken
to the player who left while we both played so I cashed them out and later
cashed out my credits to move across the aisle. In about 10 minutes the player
returned with a supervisor because his cash out did not come out right. I told
them I had cashed out the coins and the supervisor asked the customer if that
was allright with him. I got the distinct impression if he would have said no
then I would have be in big trouble. To make it more confusing the supervisor
then went to the cash out window with me and took the money from me and gave
it to him. Back at my machine I realized some of the coins in the bucket were
cash out because he realized he was now overpaid.
