Mohegan Sun cuts jobs

Various news report today that Mohegan Sun cut 355 employees yesterday. They reportedly will also be closing the Sunburst Buffet, the snack bar in the race book and flipping control of some other food places from casino-owned to new ownership.

Here is the most extensive article I can find.

Not altogether surprising that slot attendants are among those being let go. A
couple of months ago I posted that all the machines were being modified to allow
credits to build up above the $500 mark, and that handpays would only be
required in W2G situations. Obviously they completed that changeover.

It is also interesting that 17 Directors are being let go; I wonder how many of
them are Player Development directors (hosts). I wonder if the timing of this
move is coincidental to the new availability of hotel reservations being made
available through mymohegansun.com?

And while I never saw many people lining up for Woodland Wok, Chief's bagels
seemed to be constantly busy every morning, and was one of the few places you
could grab a reasonably small breakfast of coffee & a bagel or danish left in
the place after they closed down Fidelia's.

Oh, the times they are a'changin'
