I was at the Lodge Bar last night (also now penniless) and I have never seen
it that empty for a Sat night. I think it is tied to the economy rather then
points or penny slots.
The guy sitting next to me was playing nickles, One nickle at a time.
I left for home around 4 PM and it wasn't really hopping then, either. I
agree that the economy is a big factor but I think (only from what I've been
hearing) that the new point system is contributing to it. My friends, who only
play slots and don't really track what they play, are complaining that they
think the Sun has cut the points they earn on slots, too. They said it seems
like they're just not getting what they were before. If this is truly the
case, I think the Sun is being a little shortsighted....I would think when the
economy is bad they would be looking to add incentives for players to come
in. I'm diverting some of my play dollars to Harrah's junkets - although the
Harrah's properties in Vegas have terrible VP, some of their other properties
offer some decent plays, plus they pick up the cost of the trip. Heading to
Tahoe this week for a junket with a friend out of Providence. It'll be
interesting to see how things shake out in the next couple of months at Mohegan
Sun.
