I was at the Lodge Bar last night (also now penniless) and I have never seen it that empty for a Sat night. I think it is tied to the economy rather then points or penny slots.
The guy sitting next to me was playing nickles, One nickle at a time.

No problem finding a seat at all, but I think part of that may be the change
in comps from the $90 to $140 for a point. A couple of people I talked to
said they're cutting back because of that...don't know if that's really going
to happen.
