For those of you who venture to Eastern Conn, here's what I have to
offer regarding the 2 Indian casinos. Foxwoods: don't waste you time.
Just about no full-pay anything and the machines are tighter than a
tick. Also, this is the only casino I've ever visited that asked me to
pay for a drink (a bottle of water, in this particular case) even
though I was playing VP at the bar. Mohegan Sun: have found no full
pays, HOWEVER, the Sun has loosed up their VP machines substantially
over what they used to be. The machines in the smoke-free area (called
the "Hall of the Lost Tribes") have produced frequent 4 of a kinds and
better. I've hit 2 royals in this area in the last 3 months. Have seen
several other people hit royals there as well. Too bad they're not
full pay, but considering what I was experiencing over there last year
at this time, this is a 100% improvement. Still not as good as the
locals casinos out in LV, but good enough for a occasional visit (if
you live up this way) to get in a round of VP with a good chance of
winning.

both have Quarter Pick'em, but the comp rate is better at
Foxwoods .71 to .625 at Mohegan.. And, Foxwood offered double points

at either, but I don't dring bottled water so I really don't know
about that??

The comp rate at Mohegan sun is 1.25% for $1.00 and above on all VP machines. I have played for more than 50 days a year at either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun and in my opinion the VP pays are not rigged in any way. For 2002 I returned a profit of more than $3000.00. This does not include comp $. I hit a royal on the remaining $1.00 double jokers machine at Foxwoods that still pays 99.97% , (9 for 1 on 4 of a kind.) I agree that both casinos have reduced thier VP pay tables the past year, but there remains some good plays. 99.54 full pay JOB with 1.25% comp is ok for me.----- Original Message -----

Well, I will say this. I've been going to Foxwoods since they've
opened and the same for Mohegan Sun. I generally play Double Bonus
Poker and attempt to play perfect strategy as I've learned from
playing BDWP, so I'm confident I play the same way on all machines. I
won't get into a debate about tight versus loose since I have no data
to substantiate that comment. I can only go on the basis of my
experience and my experience is that I almost never win at Foxwoods
and I do quite well at Mohegan Sun, always playing the same way.
If there's no such thing as tight vs. loose VP machines, they why is
it that the prevailing wisdom in LV is to play at the locals casinos
as opposed to playing on the Strip? There's certainly something about
playing at locals places that is more attractive than playing on the
Strip, wouldn't you agree? It's definitely been my experience that I
win more and more frequently at locals places in LV than I do on the
Strip. Same with Mohegan Sun vs Foxwoods.
Loose? Tight? Use whatever words you'd like. How about win more often
vs. win less often?

I not sure that your play represents long term play.
I have had similar results on the same machines, in the same casino.
As to your point about strip vs local, every discussion I have
reviewed, its about paytables in Vp and rules of play in table games,
both of which are known to anyone who takes the time to do the
research. Slot results are published in Casino Player every month.
