A couple weeks ago we had several cash coupons (about a hundred bucks)
for Prairie Band Casino but they were for consecutive days. So we
made the trip in our motorhome and spent the night. This worked out
well as they give us free parking in their RV lot. We cashed some
coupons the day we arrived and the rest the next day. We were only
out the gas used for the trip from our home in Leavenworth. (But
these days that can be a considerable expense). We won a few bucks
playing their AA machines so went home with money in our pockets.
While there we discovered they run a bus from Leavenworth on Wednesday
and Sundays.
We had a couple more coupons for the second half of the month but not
enough to justify driving over, especially in the motorhome, so we
thought we would give the bus a try. We jumped out of bed bright and
early (for us, retired you know) and headed for the local Wal-Mart
parking lot. Boarded the bus with some other senior citizens and took
off. They also pick up in Bonner Springs, Bashor, Tongie, and
Lawrence so took a little over two hours to make the trip. The bus was
probably two thirds full by the time it cleared Lawrence. I must say
it was pleasant going down the road reading the paper and sipping
coffee while someone else did the driving.
When we arrived at the casino they gave all the passengers $5 cash
coupons just for riding the bus. They swiped our player's cards so I
suspect they are using that information to determine if the bus runs
are profitable.
We headed for the slant top 25-cent AA machines but they were all
full. So headed for the bar where we found plenty of open machines.
I staked out two machines while Lucky Lucy made the rounds -- bathroom
and coffee machine. When she came back she took over while I made the
rounds. On returning to the bar I found Lucky Lucy with a royal flush
and waiting for the hand payout. Great start!
More AA then lunch in the buffet. I really like having Harrah's comps
travel with us where ever we go. The buffet is smaller and has fewer
items but I believe it is a little better than Harrah's in Kansas
City. The food is better prepared and we get great service with our
Diamond cards. We are seated immediately and they swipe the card
later and bring us the comp ticket to sign at our table.
Played the $1 AA after lunch (they are always open) and picked up a
few bucks but nothing to brag about. The bus started loading for the
return trip about 2:00 PM the same time the Diamond Lounge opened. We
hit the lounge, grabbed some goodies and a couple bottles of water,
and headed for the bus.
The return trip again was most pleasant and we were kinda hyper from a
good winning session. With the coupons, royal, and small wins we left
with our pockets full of casino money. Good day.
