Hello, maybe this has been mentioned before but I have not seen it. Was
offered an entry into Rio Millioniare Maker Video Poker Qualifying
Tournament. Can some one please explain how this would differ from
regular slot tournament? And would strategy be to take any and
everything to hit royals? Have never stayed at the Rio. What hotels
are rooms comparable to?
Thanks for any help. Phylann
Millionaire Video Poker offer/Rio/April
Video poker tournament are very different than slot tournaments,
in that you must use some kind of strategy. Generally, the strategy for
most video poker tournaments is to hold only cards that can make a
royal flush until you get a royal flush. After a RF is made, then revert
to regular VP strategy.
If the Rio runs the tournament the same as last year, there is no difference
between a regular tournament and a "Millionaire Maker" tournament.
EXCEPT, they will not allow alternate players. It has been my experience
that, for "Millionaire Maker" tournaments, they require the contestant
who is registered to actually play in the tournament.
The rooms at Rio are called 'suites' but they are really just over-sized
regular rooms. If you get a room in the Masquerade tower, you should
request a lower room because the noise and music coming from
Voodoo Lounge is very loud and can be heard many floors down until
early into the morning. I had to wear ear plugs to get to sleep and then
requested a new room the next morning.

Luke, thanks for your reply. I have never played in video poker tourn.
Have done several regular slots. I might just give this a try. What
are chances of getting more RF? Just as hard as regular play? Kinda
lucky. Couple of years ago had 3 RF on a trip to Vegas.Downtown. In
regular slot of Blazing 7's they must adjust the machines. No way so
many triples would come up in normal play. Again thanks. May see some
on this board there? Phylann

If this is run like it has in the past, the game is 9-6DDB. Because
of the method of qualifying your strategy is to aim for the 800 coin
or better hands.
