WOW! 3 million in winnings? In one year??? Does
anyone know HOW this man won so much?
I was at Harrahs LV in March at one of their two full pay JoB machines at "my" level ($1/$2), and next to me was a gentleman playing $2 10-play (put in a new $100 bill after each losing hand!). He was playing TDB and was dealt 4 Aces and the deuce kicker, which pays 4,000, same as a royal (I think I got the game and hand correctly, it's not my game), for an $80,000 payout.
I congratulated him and commented that "Uncle Sam will like you next April", and he responded that he usually got about 1.6 million in W2Gs each year.
That's how it's done, I guess -- with the assumption, of course, that the 3 million in the article also represents W2Gs and not TRUE net winnings.
I hope the IRS strikes a deal with him for some kind of decent tax settlement, perhaps using casino records, which will likely document a loss for him unless he knows what he's doing. We wouldn't want to have the govt. "take out" one of the players who keeps the good games alive for all of us! (I know, they're not that good, but we're still taking what we can get).
